Jasper Salmon

Jasper Salmon has been playing the fiddle since the age of eight. After some time playing in pubs and clubs around Essex, he studied violin and viola at Colchester Institute School of Music where he joined forces with Clive Carroll and Beccy Carroll as the trio 'Back To Basics' playing widely around the UK festival and folk music scene throughout the 1990s. He has appeared as a session artist on many recordings and played in a variety of acts from bluegrass to prog rock. Currently, he is playing regularly in two line ups. 'Whiskey Before Breakfast' is a duo working mostly in Mid Wales featuring Jasper and singer and guitarist Jed Farnell. They perform a variety of music ranging from traditional Irish tunes to accoustic covers of Rolling Stones songs. His newest project is a trio called 'Triban'. In this he is joined by internationally renowned harpist, Harriet Earis,(harrietearis.com), and singer/songwriter/guitarist and part time woodcarver, Ian Rowlands, best known for his earlier work with the bands 'Abenaki' and 'Tra Bo Dau'. Although a new project, they are already playing to sell out rooms, performing songs old and new, in both English and Welsh, and recording for their first joint album.
