About Me

I am a Sagittarius, and by definition a teacher, student, explorer, traveler. I am honest, sometimes to the point of being hurtful. If you ask my opinion, make sure you really want it.

I live for music, travel, and photography, and if I can do all three, I'm a happy girl. I own (at present count) eight cameras (including a Kodak Brownie). I shoot digital but I am an old film whore, particularly black and white photography. You can click on "pics" to see some of my work--anything from live concerts to portraits.
Music is my drug, my release, my band-aid, my everyday soundtrack. I can't live without it. I listen to most genres, from classical, to jazz, to hip hop, industrial, etc. I was a band geek for most of my junior high and high school career, and have picked up guitar, some piano and a bit of vocal in college. I have always had a desire to learn to drum, because every drummer I have ever met has the ability to pull random rhythms and beats out of everyday, out of the air it seems, and I admire that greatly.
I am definitely a traveler. I love to take road trips, go to places I've never been, see different cultures and meet different people.
I am a writer, a bibliophile, and I love film and theater. I have a strange fascination with accents, words, languages.
I have entered the beautiful art of belly dance and it has become a real passion. It is one of the few things that celebrates femininity. There is no perfection or requirement except the love of it. I have gotten just a small taste of performing and truly love it. I hope to get up and dance even more.
Somewhere out there is a twin flame, a soul that matches my own. I don't ask for much--respect, honesty, intelligence, and the ability to make me laugh, even when life is at its worst. I don't seek perfection because no one is perfect. In fact, a little damage isn't always a bad thing--it makes you stronger.

The day of the dead

23 years ago, November 1, a little girl died. At least on the inside. The innocent was destroyed and left in her place was a fraction of what she could have been. It seems approriate that it fell o...

The House that Echelon Built

I don't make it a habit of doing stuff like this unless I feel that it is a worthwhile cause. 30 Seconds to Mars did a Habitat for Humanity build this past week. They raised $10,000 in bids for two...

Well, that answers that.

The final rejection letter came yesterday.  Appropriately on Friday the 13th.  There will be no graduate school for me.  I was more than a little disappointed, but at the same time, rel...

So...what was 2006?

So here is where I kind of look back and see what I accomplished, what I fucked up on, and what I look forward to.  I started off the year still recovering from a really bad fall semester. ...
