Drummer and percussionist from Amsterdam.__________________________________________________
_From an early age Joeri has been an active musician. When he was six years old, he started with playing the recorder at the School of Music in Amsterdam. At the age of twelve he changed to drums. After various teachers and workshops he choose to become a professional musician. From 1989 he attended the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. Besides drums he also plays vibes, kettledrums, bass and keys. He is specialized in playing Latin-American music (Brazilian, Cuban and Caribbean).

Since 1983 he has been playing in various bands with various styles, in Europe as well as in the Caribbean and South America. In 1995 he did his final exam at the Sweelinck. This also implied giving a concert at the Bimhuis, an international jazz platform.
These days Joeri plays as a free-lance drummer/percussionist and teaches at different Schools of
Music. He is teaching children from an early age as well as adults.

He played on different cd's, among others: Patrick Sedoc-Facing Changes.
In 2000 he played on the Percuba festival in Havana-Cuba and recorded there in the famous ICAIC studio. He recorded there with members from Afrekete (folkloric group from Cuba). Also they did a tour in The Netherlands together.

In 2001 he made his first trip to Brazil and played on some jamsessions in Rio de Janeiro and Salvador da Bahia. He did a gig in Rio with Joao Meirelles, Edson Lobo (from the Dom Salvador trio) and Osmar Milito.

In 2002 he did some shows in Rio de Janeiro with bassplayer Ze Luis Maia (son of the famous bassplayer Luizao Maia who played with Djavan, Elis Regina and many others) and vocalist Leila Maria. He did shows in Paco Imperial and Bar de Tom-Plataforma.

In 2003 he did shows with brazilian musicians who came to play in The Netherlands, with Flavia Virginia (daughter of Djavan)-keys/vocals and Gisa Pithan-guitar/vocals.
