I am here for Friends

About Me

I'm a student of history, religion, theology, philosophy, psyche...I guess you could say that I'm a student of humanity.
I believe that God's glory is in his enduring, suffering love. The fact that in Jesus Christ, He is God with us and with His creation. As evil as we can be at times, through all the chaos, messiness, and pain that accompanies life, God is trustworthy and moves sometimes alongside us, sometimes before us, sometimes against us, but always with us. It is THIS HOPE that I have, that Jesus Christ is my Lord, God with ME. What is your hope?
Well, I'm a 28 year old Graduate student also working as a photographer in Springfield. Check out my photography website here! www.tmarlerphotography.com

My Interests

I'm into a lot of different things. Playing tennis, basketball, billiards, or ping pong...photography and art...Biblical study...walking (which is usually accompanied by shooting photos, hehe)...watching theatre...I'm picky about movies...but my favorites are those that are clever, quirky, or help me think more deeply about life, humanity, and God. I like some anime, but usually for the character depth. I like the classic video games...you know, Pacman, Galaga, Centipede, etc...AWESOME! The Burnout series is awesome.

Music:

Just about anything but country and hip hop/rap. I'm rediscovering my favorite alt rock songs from the 90s. ;) If an artist can combine great instrumentals with a message or story, I'll probably like it. Some of my favorite albums/bands:

The Best Worst-Case Scenario/Fair (2006) This band is amazing! Check them out on Myspace!

Ephemere/Roseblossom Punch (1997)

Back From Nowhere/Polarboy (1998) - I just rediscovered this one in my collection...I'd forgotten how good this album is...hard to find now, though. Do some searching. :)

This Beautiful Mess/Sixpence None the Richer (1995)

How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb/U2 (2004)

Sink or Swim/Waterdeep (1999)

All of these have staying power.

Also like a bunch of various songs from the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

Movies:

Anime: Trigun; Eureka Seven; The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Series: Firefly

Movies: Unbreakable; Hero; Zoolander; 12 Monkeys; The Royal Tenenbaums; Wag the Dog; UHF

Television:

I don't watch much tv...but, I do watch Chiefs football almost religiously. ;)

Books:

Anything about Biblical scholarship, history, theology, philosophy, or how they all work together. I'm not a huge fan of fiction or fantasy books. I do read one once in awhile.

When we were kids and we said "12th Street," we said 12th Street like it was the only 12th Street anywhere in the world. Do you remember that feeling, the feeling of the familiar? When we said 12th St...
