Susie Houston is a Pop-R&B singer/songwriter from Houston, TX. She possesses the commercial look of a national model matched with an astounding broad vocal range. Her voice is unique, jazzy and soulful and comes across as a refreshing sound for pop with solid talent and writing behind here. Her demo has created a buzz around investors and was offered an independent deal which she did not pursue. Formerly, Susie Houston background sang and danced with Solange Knowles and her band, where they performed at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas 2007.
Susie was one of the opening singers for J. Holiday's concert at Mic Check Tuesdays at Gatsbys in Houston Sept 11, 2007.
Susie interviewed with Michele Fisher and Sam Malone for the MIXX 96.5 morning show, at the American Idol auditions because of her success at Sugar Land Superstar Semi-Finals, a local singing competition. She was also on the FOX morning news, and interviewed and sang for them live at the Idol Auditions in Dallas.
Houston has performed regularly since the age of 9 at local talent shows. At age 14 she performed for several local concerts as a guest singer with a rock band. She continued to be a guest singer for a band that gigged at parties and conventions until she was 17.
Houston has performed at several local showcases including Mic Check Tuesdays at Red Cat Jazz Cafe and Gatsby's in Houston, TX.
She made the first callback for the CW's Next Pussycat Doll’s first season. The audition consisted of freestyle dance, singing and personality.
Houston has modeled for Nike in their Finish Line Maddie Girl collection, and has appeared on the Christmas Finish Line gift card for 2005.
She was requested by the University of Houston’s Sports Marketing Department to sing the National Anthem at the highest attended game of 2006, Arizona at UH, where there were over 8,000 people in attendance. Houston also performed the National Anthem at a WNBA Comets game in 2003 and stunned the audience, receiving wonderful feedback from a crowd of several thousand people.
Susie Houston along with her family helped produce a series of benefit concerts called "Heart and Soul" for local food banks that have raised thousands of dollars to feed hungry families.
