Hye Phive Godforce One

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ugGuweItasHello. My rapper name is Hye Phive. I started listening to rap music hardcore in 1988. My most heavy influences right now are I would think early EPMD and Native Tongues: Jungle Brothers, De La Soul, and A Tribe Called Quest. I've always been heavily into the art of freestyling which for me really started to mean something after Freestyle Fellowship's "Inner City Griots" came out and I started experimenting with hallucigenic drugs. The height of my drug experimentation days involved 38 drops of liquid lsd, a very short lived attempt at meaning to fast for 40 days underneath Broadway Bridge on the North Saskatchewan river in like negative 50 degrees celsius, and finally a month in a funny farm a few months later. The day after my big acid trip i retreated from Saskatoon, where i had grown up and lived until my parents moved after i was done grade 12, and fled back to Port Coquitlam BC to find solace in my loving parents modest suburban home without saying goodbye to any of my friends. The funny bit relating to that is that a number of years later when I busking on Granville St. with a live hip hop band I headed which somehow got named "The Conscious Groovers" I bumped into a few dudes from Sask and they were flabbergasted to see me because they had heard that I had dropped a hundred hits of acid and had actually been living in a cave on a mountain in Tibet. Anyways this isn't a book, I currently reside on Gabriola Island in lovely British Columbia. My 2 best friends here Stoaway and Pilfered Grimly are also hip hop musicians. We've been trying to get a fully live hip band started, which we kind of have except for our drummer Steve whose only here for the summer. We do a hip hop jam every Thursday night at the Skol Pub which is really rather poorly attended and reminds us of a Flight of the Conchords episode in that way. It is great practice for us though and a lot of fun, I get to freestyle with live musicians for hours while drinking free alcohol. Anywho I've started recording again after a 2 and a half year hiatus, I've never felt better about making music, and I hope u check back from time to time to see how things are progressing. PEACE
