About Me

Adam C. Conboy, of Roxborough, a Marine lance corporal, passed May 12 in Al Anbar province, Iraq. Lance Cpl. Conboy was a rifleman with the Third Battalion, Third Marine Regiment, Third Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. Adam joined the Marines in March 2005 and was sent to Iraq in March.Born and raised in Roxborough, Adam attended Shawmont Elementary School and Roxborough High School. In 2002, he moved briefly to Schwenksville. In June 2003, he graduated from Perkiomen Valley High School and then returned to Roxborough. He worked as a conductor on a train crew with his father, Charles J., at SMS Rail Lines in Bridgeport, N.J., before enlisting in the Marines.Adam had grown up hearing World War II stories of battles on Guadalcanal from his grandfather Charles X. Conboy, a Marine veteran."Adam was going to follow what he believed was his destiny regardless of what anyone had to say," his father said.A sturdy 6 feet, 3 inches, he played baseball and football in high school and was a passionate Eagles fan and a bit of a prankster, his family and friends say. He was a loyal and amazing friend. He always knew how to brighten up a room and make every moment with him a time in your life you would never forget."He knew to take life with a bit of humor," his grandmother Dorothy Conboy said.Adam got three tatoos to remind him where he came from, his mother, Mary Warner, said. He had Ireland, the country of his ancestors, on his leg; Philly tattooed across his stomach; and the face of Jesus over his heart. He was an amazing person and had a huge heart. We are all so proud to be apart of his life. Please pray for all the troops still fighting for our country.---------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------Donations may be made to the Adam C. Conboy Memorial Fund, c/o Wachovia Bank, 6128 Ridge Ave., Philadelphia 19128. The money will be used to purchase needed personal items for the Marines in his battalion. </a

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Our Adam, Adoo, big brother, faithful friend, unforgettable cousin, special nephew, dear Grandson, precious son, committed Marine. As my son, His father stated, Adam was one of a kind, never to be duplicated. Adam was one of the most likable guys anyone ever knew and he was always smiling. Now don€™t get me wrong, that smile usually had a bit of mischief behind it but no one could ever really get upset with Adam. He was fun to be around - always made everyone laugh - the kind of person who would do anything for anyone. All who knew Adam feel privileged and honored to have known such a good person and we are proud and grateful for what he did for his country. He was a brave, honorable, courageous young man and he will forever remain within our hearts. He was loved dearly. Our one and only Adam, Adoo, protective big brother, loyal faithful friend, unforgettable fun cousin, extra special nephew, dear sweet Grandson, precious first-born son, proud committed Marine.
