I am an accomplished artist, photographer, graphic designer and watercolorist. I’m a born and raised Charlestonian, and now make my home on James Island with my wife and daughter. I work from a small studio on the Intracoastal Waterway and regularly exhibit new works. I’m an exhibiting member of the Charleston Artist Guild and the Folly Beach Art Guild, for which I am also secretary. I am vice-president and a founding member of Islands Art Gallery on James Island, where I frequently hold demos, lectures and exhibitions. I’ve demonstrated and displayed for many area galleries, businesses and organizations. I have earned several awards from exhibits such as the Old Santee Fine Arts Exhibit and The Folly Beach Fine Arts Festival. I’ve won awards in the juried shows at the North Charleston Arts Festival for several years running, including a purchase award. My piece “Bird of Paradise†was acquired by the City of North Charleston, and now is on display at their municipal offices. I was also chosen as part of a select group of artists to display in the Just Art with Sharks exhibit at the South Carolina Aquarium.I work mainly with inks, watercolor and other transparent media, however occasionally switch to oils and acrylics. My artwork is often very photo-realistic, drawing much of my subject matter from nature and wildlife. My pieces often incorporate the use of iridescent powders, washes, glazes and unexpected additives in order to achieve a certain look or feel.Professionally, I am the Visual Communications Manager for the Division of Education and Student Support Services for the Medical University of South Carolina. I’m an administrator and designer for many of the websites used by students, faculty and staff, including the sites for all six colleges at MUSC. I’m also responsible for most official printed materials pertaining to students and educational support, including diplomas, announcements and university publications. Additionally, I am heavily involved in event planning, administration and staging of the university’s commencement exercises, faculty convocations and university-wide inter-professional student proceedings.
