Allan Van Johnson

Spiritually gifted, uniquely talented and classically trained, Allan Van Johnson has enjoyed success as a singer, choral director and vocal coach for over 15 years. He's been blessed to share the stage with such great artists as Stevie Wonder, Karen Clark-Sheard, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Kim Burrell, Tye Tribbett, Maurette Brown Clark, and Darin Atwater's Soulful Symphony.With a background in music and painting, Allan also developed a passion for natural hairstyling, especially the skill of hairlocking during this time. This artistry originated in the ancient Kemetic (Egyptian) culture, and existing proof of it can be found among the sacred hieroglyphs adorning the temple and pyramid walls in Egypt. To continue this tradition, he studied under Ona Osirio-Maat, innovator of the Egyptian inspired LockSmyths Method™, as well as natural hair care savants Malaika Cooper and Thando Kafele.Seeking to learn alternative locking techniques, Allan trained with Dr. JoAnne Cornwell, originator of SISTERLOCKS®. This revolutionary natural hair management system utilizes the curl pattern of one's hair to produce small, micro-sized locks of tensile strength for maximum styling versatility. For this system, he is a certified consultant. He recently earned his license as a cosmetologist, and is well on his way to fulfilling his next dream of becoming a master hair colorist!Allan Van Johnson currently resides in Baltimore, Maryland with his wife and children.
