I got my first guitar from Sears, for my seventh birthday. My parents bought it for me. Why, I don't know. I can't remember asking for one. Still, I thought it was pretty cool, and I started taking lessons. Of course, it didn't last very long.....I WAS SEVEN YEARS OLD!!!! I was more interested in my Matchbox cars and Legos at the time, than to try and sit down and practice. So, fastfoward to six years later. I'm delivering papers, and making a decent living for a thirteen year old. I bought Van Halen's 5150 (I didn't even have a turntable, I borrowed my sister's) and stated air-guitaring to that, and a few more choice ones from the 80's; Iron Maiden, Led Zepplin, Rush, etc. It was over. I had to get another guitar. I bought it at a garage sale for $40 with paper route money.
I joined my first band at 16, we played a few local battle of the bands, and a club for teens called the Dry Rock Cafe (dry meaning no alcohol). We were big stars in our high school. All the fame and noteriety (not really, but the most popular girl in the scoll said hello to me once) went to my head, and I failed calculus in my senior year, because I didn't study. It's pretty ironic considering my dad's a math teacher.
I went to college for music, graduated, got a degree in music composition, and did nothing with it. Instead, I spent most of the next few years gigging a lot, and doing studio work with the likes of Seal, Peter Gabriel, Busta Rhymes, Joan Jett and EMPD to name a few. Now here I am with a collection of songs, and no idea what to do with 'em. Any suggestions?
