Mundo, was born and raised in the very beautiful, cultural and artistic city of San Antonio, TX. Surrounded by so much visual reference and of course, natural talent, Mundo began sketching, drawing ,painting, and woodcarving before he was 9 years old and earned much attention for his skills. He credits his first interest in tattoos to his grandfather, who acquired them while serving in the Army over seas. By the time Mundo saw them, they already had lost all there detail and were blue, blurred and old but they caught his eye all the same. He then learned the much despised way of scratching from friends and family, who were always in and out the joint, with new tricks. At the early age of 18, over 11 years ago, Mundo made the move to Beaumont, located in Southeast, TX., where he began his true apprenticing at “The Magic Dragon Tattoo Studioâ€, under the ownership of , Mr. Tony (BIG- T!) Witt, whose tattoo beginnings started back in the carnie days under the hard core eye of Mr. Sailor Bill Killingworth. Mundo learned the craft from the ground up. He scrubbed toilets, mopped floors, washed the tattooist’s cars, made and applied stencils, drew outline after outline, set up and broke down stations, scrubbed tubes made needles and everything in between. After one year of apprenticing, his natural skills took him to the level of tattooist and he spent the next two years working as an artist for the “Dragonâ€. After leaving the “Dragonâ€, Mundo spent some time traveling before settling with another shop in Beaumont, TX, where he worked for 8 years. Finally in August of 2004, Mundo and his beautiful wife Aubrey Trevino, finely opened “TATTOOS BY MUNDOâ€.
