About Me

Well, where should I begin. I currently work in marketing and communications in the environmental field. I create things like brochures, maps, and redesigned the web site for a non-profit organization. I will probably try freelancing after my contract is up doing desktop publishing since I love to be creative, but we well see.
My interests include nature photography, web design and just being outdoors whether it's canoeing or hiking the trails. I love movies ranging from period dramas to all out action flicks. The music I listen to is also a wide spectrum. One minute I will be listening to The Tragically Hip or U2, than the next minute I will be listening to celtic or classical music. I caught myself listening to Marilyn Manson in the car driving to work the other day.
I also love books on history, science and technology, and the paranormal. In fact I go to the local Chapters or Indigo very often to see what is new and have a cup of 'jo'. Now I believe I am addicted to their coffee. and I have a theory that coffee beans are not the only ingredient from Columbia that is brewing there.

My Interests

Lately I have been geocaching. What is geocaching? Well to give a brief description, it's basically going out on a 'treasure hunt' in the woods (most of the time) using a GPS (global positioning system) and using coordinates that you input manually or download from http://www.geocaching.com/. These containers, or 'caches' (pronounced 'cash'..they don't contain cash but I wish they did) have a log book to sign and trinkits that may include such items as pins, key chains, postcards, etc.In other words, I use billions of dollars worth of satellites to go look for tupperware filled with crap from McDonald's Happy Meals...gotta love it.

I'd like to meet:

I would like to meet myself a day or two in the future and give myself the winning lottery numbers.

Other people I would like to meet:

Steven Spielberg
Ask him when E.T.2: Electric Boogaloo is coming out

Albert Einstein
Talk to him about hyperdrive and warp drive and why that 'theory of relativity' stuff is just crazy talk.

Stephen Hawking
We can just laugh at Einstein together, but with that voice synthesizer, it would sound kind of creepy.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone (creaters of South Park)
Just need to know what those guys smoke.

Music:

U2, Live, Tragically Hip. Also love to listen to instrumental music whether it's classical or a soundtrack score. Favorite composers would be James Horner (Glory, Titanic), Hans Zimmer (Gladiator), Howard Shore (Lord of the Rings)and John Williams (Star Wars and everything else). I also like to listen to celtic music from such artists as Enya and Loreena McKennitt.

Other favorite artists include:

Peter Gabriel
Bruce Springsteen
Roxy Music
Patty Smith
Live
INXS
Pearl Jam
Alanis Morissette

Movies:

I do have over 150 DVD's soooo I guess I like movies.

I like action/adventure and sci-fi. Favorite movies include Blade Runner, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Saving Private Ryan, Lord of the Rings, Das Boot, and The Matrix (yep, even the sequels.

Favorite Directors would probably be Ridley Scott, Steven Spielberg and James Cameron....and lately Kevin Smith.

Television:

Currently watch CSI, LOST and anything on History Television, Discovery Channel and A&E.

Books:

Read a lot of non-fiction on history and science. Also read Tom Clancy, Anne Rice, and William Gibson.

Heroes:

Bono, Terry Fox

What's with NASCAR

While watching a movie trailer for Will Ferrel's new movie 'Talladega Nights', I thought to myself "Why is NASCAR popular?" Come on, it's just a bunch of cars doing 4 left turns hundreds of times over...
