About Me

Artist Auto Biog – T.LivingstoneI was listening to mix tapes from all the fusion lot some that were local to Portsmouth, England as early as 12 years old (In 1992), we were getting mix tapes from DJs like Clarkee (which was my personal fave) Slipmatt, Sy, Ramos and supreme and all the fusion crew.A group around my age were starting to get into Techno in 1995 when I was fifteen and got my first decks at sixteen. I started off mixing hardcore techno and borrowing records from friends. I learnt to scratch in the first few years. This was around the time when I discovered Dave Clarke, who was a big influence from then on.On my eighteenth birthday I went to Geushky, a techno night in Portsmouth, where I got to know the local scene and got to hear a lot of international techno acts.I moved to London when I was nineteen and this was when I bought my Roland JX305 (similar to the 505) and started getting into writing music. When I was 21 I started an HND in music production, which I did one and a half years of, during this time I was continually writing stuff using various software packages i.e. Cubase, Reason, Abelton, Wavelab etc combined with my Roland keyboard, and played out at various club nights, radio stations and free parties. In 2003, I got my first residency at Break-Neck which gave me the opportunity to play with some name DJs, like Chris Liberator, D.A.V.E the Drummer, Jerome Hill, Mark E G, Tobias Schmidt and The geezer, plus more. I was already very confident at performing and the organisers gave me the freedom to play what I wanted which was amazing for me as I had had experiences in the past with, people doing radio shows, nearly getting sacked for playing my stuff! And for not wanting to compromise with regards to music (i.e. playing crap), not really getting many gigs. I've recently played with Lab4 at another night in Portsmouth called Format. I have real confidence with what I do, which makes it easier and am looking foreward to playing at more and also bigger events and getting my own music finally heard. I'm 25 now and hope to have a professional future in music.
