As early as '94-'95 when Doggy Style was being blasted on all radio stations across the Universe and Dr Dre's "The Chronic" albums were the talk of the moment,Kassh Flo at the time was more interested in what next Michael Jackson album there was to buy or what next Jacko dance move to learn to swing to.At that stage he had not the faintest idea he would grow into an "MC" later on take up the name KASSH FLO!The kid was being exposed to a variety of music types but the fast thumping "boogie onto" kind of music seemed the one that appealed to him most.
This was not to be,as Kassh's taste in music instantly changed the second a school friend "Luvmo" first introduced him to the track "Gin and Juice".Being in boarding school all Kassh Flo would hear from his "dorm prefect's" study room was "rolling down the street, smoking **** ,sipping on gin and juice, layback" if not that then it was "murder was the case". Dr Dre and Ed Lover were on the scene,Lost Boys were shouting out about their ghetto princess Renee,Canibus was getting suspended for keeping the crowds jumping. This was all impossible to resist.Another of his major influences was "Puff Daddy" now "Diddy" as a few of Kassh's lady friends claimed he had the same smoothness and swagger ha ha (laughs).
Kassh always looked doomed and it seemed there was no way out but to end up swaying towards hip hop because of all these tunes his ears were being exposed to.But coming from a tight and strict religious family ,sex ,drugs, guns and violence were totally always out of the question, and that aspect still has not changed!!!Through this period Kassh started to listen to rap more and more and begun to memorize some of the rhymes and would go to school next day and boast to school mates, showing off his next memorized lyric. This went on for a while and in doing this Kassh gained himself a name as the next "Puff D" and he featured in pretty much every talent show there was about.
Kassh Flo and his two cousins then came together and formed a group in 1995 and the group was called "Dia Tribe" which in plain english means a "verbal assault". Using a Sanyo wireless and a pair of headphones the 3 cousins recorded their first song in the same year and the lyrics had been taken from the track "Live and Die" featuring Kriss Kross, Jermaine Dupri and Da Brat.(this was more for fun and experiment than anything). The three cousins ripped through local talent contests across town but within months they realised if they were going to get any more credit for what they were doing ,they needed to start writing lyrics and composing songs of their own,the originality complex suddenly kicked in!This being so inevitable, Kassh Flo got down and started putting pen to paper and it all started to make sense, however rhymes didn't always flow as they do now...ha ha laughs again.
In the following years Dia Tribe split as a result of circumstances but there was never any love lost. Kassh went off to concentrate on his studies and this kept him out of the game for 2 years but it seems the game never at one stage left him.Over the last 5years Kassh Flo has re-sparked the fire and made up with the game and has started to take music a lot more seriously.Kassh's talent has never been in doubt and his ability to write and tell a story so eloquently means he is a force not to be ignored throughout the industry and gives him a platform to keep going for years to come. His music focusses on partying and just having a good time, some describe it as soft and easy listening, but if you like it "deep" Kassh's versatility allows him to take you there too. His rhymes portray no "gangster" image but a smooth, slick UK style "Diddy" ,if that is an analogy to go by at all.Kassh also briefly talks about his struggles as a youngster but he feels his audience aren't ready for that side of his life yet.
Kassh Flo's debut single "Southend City" which also features Lil Manda hits the streets and stores on March 3rd, 2007 and is sure to be a major hit across the South East and beyond.Kassh says:
"This is my re-birth and i want you all to come on this journey with me and keep the dream alive"...lets all keep marching!!!
