Beatbet is a Collective of Artists & Musicians

About Me

Originally formed in 2002 - but constantly evolving and expanding, Beatabet is now a record label as well as a collective of over 40 musicians and artists who regularly collaborate and provide skills, resources and opportunities for each other. Each year beatabet decamps for four months to an isolated converted farmhouse in France, where we run a summer residency project. there we have a rotating group of 10-15 artists (of any discipline) living and working together. The backbone of the schedule consists of group workshops, group criticism sessions, improvisation sessions, group composition sessions and creative games. After each season we release a compilation CD of the best of the pieces of music.Beatabet is run by a committee consisting of: Jules Arthur, Kassia Zermon, Poppy Kay, Graham Sowerby, Abraham Moughrabi, J.S. Thornton (Brighton contingent) plus Dave the Machine, Seiriol Cwyfan Davies, Nick Wilsdon, Alex Forster (London, Edinburgh and beyond)

A short film by Andyjamesnelson. Here we see a presentation of 2605 still images - each captured with Canon's 20D camera at 5 frames per second. Surrounded by the city; its buildings and roads we often forget the daily marvel of the sunset. I am 29 years old. At 365 days per year. I could have seen approximately 10,585 sunsets. I did not. All sound eminates from a wonderful ARP Solus Synthesizer.
An animation originally produced to complement a track written last month...but which took on a life of its own.
An animated rough guide to the tormenting world of nightmares, taking form in drawings and animation by Andyjamesnelson and sound design by Dave the Machine.
MUSIC: recorded at the Beatafarm, 2006, "System 32" is an homage to life, liberty and the pursuit of a stable running program. VIDEO: Giant Bird... One from Wales, one from America. Both dedicated to the art of song and dance.
