About Me

Who is African? A future legendary reggae artist, a father and a friend, also Westmoreland Don in his own rights when it comes to reggae music. His down to earth nature and his embrace of who he is and knowing the true foundation for all black people, makes perfect sense why he proudly announces himself as African. African was born in Westmoreland, Jamaica and giving the birth name Damion Davis. By age 9, he was singing with his church choir and joined them in their national church competitions. His humbling beginings continued with Folo "D" (African's nickname) lyrically ripping the stage at Mannings School and performing at local talent shows. Damion's addiction to reggae music learned to be more than a hobby but a foreseen destiny. "Mi rememba mi motha always tell mi seh that she hear di beat a music inna r belly when she did pregnant," laughed African. In 2002, Damion migrated to Canada and instantly connected with a rooted community, African the reggae artist was born. That same year African found his better half, married her and started a loving family. African remained loyal to his music and grace the stage in various concerts like Instant Rush Showcase for LA Lick Switch Promotions, Cervejaria Talent Showcase and worthy causes such as Save A Child Benefit for Sick Kids Hospital just to name a few. In addition, the Jamaican Association of Canada invited African to perform an aired production to exemplify the life of a Jamaican living abroad. African even performed in the Bahamas at club Infinity. In Jamaica he did live shows: Roll Out Bazzle, Nite of Frostration and vybz anniversary. Despite his permanent residency in Canada, he returns to Jamaica frequently preserving the essence of what is reggae music and still capable of vibing musically as if he never left. Today African is ready to immerse the world with his reggae sounds, like he would say " Good Ova Evil Fashigla Bubly AAAAFRICAN!!! Red, Gold and Green to the highest supreme."Email: africankidd6@aol.com Contacts: 416-509-4845 or 1876-443-9762.
