GhostHack is a new audiovisual outfit, a collaborative project between VJ Anyone and Motorboy. Created organically whilst touring The Suspension of Displeasure – a previous AV project performed in Thailand, Finland, Armenia and the UK. Premiered in Seville for Lux 2006, GhostHack is the product of an ongoing hi-tech media correspondence between Motorboy (based in Bristol) and VJ Anyone (based in London), celebrating and criticizing the many issues around life online, onscreen. More precisely, as the title suggests, GhostHack is a piece that delves on contradictions between the specifics of organic life and technology, in a manner close to cyber-punk novels and sci-fi thrillers. GhostHack proposes a 60-minute live audio and video performance, where Motorboy’s post DJ mixes blend Electro and Minimal dance tracks with ambient music and film scores into a seamless experience, visually rendered by VJ Anyone’s live projections of abstract colour fields, 3D environments and filmed light sources.
