Adriana Carbajal, professionally known as "Adriana", began singing at the age of three. By the age of five, she was singing songs that she had learned from the radio. A couple years later, Adriana’s grandmother began to teach her harmonies and vocal techniques in order to develop her talent. The result was a hit record by Adriana’s 14th birthday.
Her first single Until Tomorrow peaked at number 7 in the second week of October 2000 on the Wild 94.9 charts. This caught the attention of “Jazzy†Jim Archer, Program director for Wild 94.9.The enormous number of requests for the song eventually led to Archer signing Adriana to a three year recording contract with his label, Straight Hits. As the song gained momentum it caught fire nationally and began playing on major market stations including but not limited too: WKTU in New York, WPOW in Miami, KISS FM in Los Angeles, Power 106 in Los Angeles, KPPR in Phoenix, and KLUC in Las Vegas.
The tremendous amount of airplay led to an offer from Universal for a recording contract at the young age of 14. Unfortunately, Straight Hits and Universal were unable to reach an agreement. Although there was disappointment over the matter, Adriana looked at the situation with optimism and looked at the positive side of things because she had the opportunity to meet and perform at concerts with artists such as, Mya, E-40, Bow Wow, West Side Connection, Shaggy, Mack 10 and Ice Cube. She had time to learn the music business while continuing to develop her talent, and by the age of 16, she began to write her own songs. Her influences have been and continue to be Alicia Keys, Carlos Santana, Mariah Carey and many more.
Much time has passed since her experience and musical career at the young age of 14, she is now an adult and very mature. She has received her Bachelor Degree in Creative Arts, and during the process, continued to write a numerous amount of songs, while recording and producing most of her music. She has more determination than ever to make it in the music business and at only 23 years of age, Adriana intends to prove that she is a star.
Adriana’s goals for the future include recording one album per year with as many hits as possible. She hopes that over time she can work in various genres while maintaining a focus on the commercial aspects of the urban market. She has already proved that she has selling power and potential, and is now in the process of proving that she is the one to bring a new sound and voice to the music world. She is very passionate about music and is very ambitious. Because of these qualities she obtains, she will continue to work hard and wont stop, no matter what obstacles may come her way, until she moves from the world of independents, to the majors. Furthermore, she intends to accomplish her dreams while generating major profits for the label that moves first to sign her.
