About Me

K.B. (K.Bigs) was born in New Haven, Connecticut and raised in a small rural town in Georgia. He picked up his first bass at the age of 14. As a self-taught bassist, K.B. joined his first band at the age of 17. At the age of 18 he started sneaking into the local nightclubs for open mic in Columbus, Georgia. It was there, K.B. started his networking. After meeting band member Mike Davidson (drummer) K.B. was hired as bassist for the band soon to be known as Cornbread.Cornbread, lead by singer Keni Thomas(Blackhawk Down), lead guitarist Paxton Nash, drummer Mike Davidson, rhythm-acoustic guitarist/vocalist Dean Castile(lead vocals/rhythm-acoustic guitar on "Opinion of a Lesser Man") and bassist K.B. toured the southeast United States and soon built a large following opening for acts such as The Comodores, Ty Herndon, Shawn Mullins, and Sister Hazel. Playing the Georgia Theatre and the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games were just two of several pinnacles in the band's career. The band's first CD was entitled "Following Ceres" and the sophmore album entitled "Headspace and Timing" were both engineered and co-produced by Don McCollister of Nickel and Dime Studios Atlanta, Georgia. The two albums were recorded on the indie label Raspbery Moon Records owned by Keni Thomas. K.B. explains, "We were five great musicians that loved music so much and played what we felt, we weren't trying to fit into any certain musical category and that's what made it so much fun. We were family."After the original Cornbread seperated in 1999 K.B. toured and played bass guitar on the album "The Spanish Elbow" with rock/power-pop/punk band King Thursday http://cdbaby.com/cd/kingthursday. K.B. also worked with acid jazz and modern rock projects. K.B. also worked along side Big Glide. Shortly after 2002 K.B moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he began to grow tremendously as a bassplayer and musician working with solo artist Deidra Adams and the electronica/ world/ nu-jazz band Twelfth Planet lead by singer/songwriter/guitarist Aradia and keyboardist/producer Wirth www.twelfthplanet.org / myspace.com/twelfthplanet/ http://cdbaby.com/cd/twelfthplanet.Now, working as a part-time freelance musician, K.B. continues to record and occasionally play the Atlanta club scene but focusing mainly on his spiritual life, art, work and family.
