About Me

Here is a selection of songs from the album Up Yer House which is out now. You can download all the tracks from www.metro.co.uk/memusic for 79p each - there's a couple of free ones - or you can buy direct from us for £5 the whole kit & caboodle glossy cover and everything. Just drop us a line here and we'll send you details. Cafe Assassin first formed in the late 90's taking their name from the cafe of the assassins. That's the old term for travellers. It was a popular meeting place for drug inspired French literai in the 19th century. Rob O'Neill and Neil Hubbard have been the mainstay of this band which has had many formats... several singers guitarists bassists drummers etc. In fact Neil played drums up until recently. However, this is them at their very best. No frills, no gimmicks, just good quality songs which speak for themselves. They have played a lot of venues in the Manchester area, branching out as far as Darwen! Live, you can catch their electric full on rock set at bigger venues or their mesmerising acoustic set at more intimate venues. Influences: Alcohol is our favourite influence. We don't think our musical influences are too hard to spot. But the passion is definitely our own.Review by Manchester Music Dash :: Café Assassin :: 12 January 2009 / Promo / Satellite Records / 11 Trk CDR By JAIt always worries me when an unsigned band put together an album of some length and in this case this is technically a demo LP. So therefore it’s far too long to begin with. It is however a competent stab and whilst it’s patently obvious that Café Assassin are gentlemen of a certain age, there’s still a sparkle to their meat and two veg indie rock. I’m the kid of person that has trouble playing through a whole Sterophonics or Razorlight record (I’m not on my own I’m sure), but there’s some strange (possibly unhealthy) attraction to “Up Yer House” – their rock stylings have an American slant which allows their mature perspective to work, but I can’t see myself wanting to see this live; yet on record it’s a pretty decent all round effort.MMM
Sounds Like: Heavy Mellow. You saw it here first. Remember this.
Record Label: Rough Trade showed an interest but no money.
