Live Showcase '08
As seen on The X Factor, Afrodisiac, the south’s very own pop, soul and motown girl group, have gone from strength to strength since they exploded onto the live music scene in January 2006.
Laura, Sammi and Charmaine were recently seen on The X Factor, where they made it from 150,000 hopefuls to the last 25 groups.
Even Mr Nasty himself, Simon Cowell, gave them praise and all four judges - including Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue - put them through to bootcamp.
Not content with approval from some of the biggest names in pop, the trio has built up a large fan base and even boasts a handful of celebrity fans.
Former Atomic Kitten, Liz McClarnon, was bowled over by the trio when she saw them perform at Thorpe Park in Spring 2007 and posted a personal message on her website saying:
“At the end of the competition they had a performance by a girl band called Afrodisiac, they blew me away! Check them out on MySpace - they are going to be huge!â€
The girls also received praise from East 17’s Brian Harvey, Another Level’s Dane Bowers and Steps’ Lee Latchford-Evans when they performed to a sell-out audience at Portsmouth Guildhall later in the year.
The trio were national finalists in South Coast Idol 2007, the biggest singing competition outside TV’s X Factor, and were crowned “Best Live and Unsigned Group†in Southampton.
They have performed support slots for Lemar, X Factor finalists Hope, Futureproof, Daniel De Bourg, Andy Williams, Beverley, Kimberly and Ben Mills and for other established artists such as Yazz as part of 40-piece harmony group, En Masse.
