About Me
As for me... Let's see. I could give you the abbreviated life story I guess. Basically I grew up in Richmond, VA where I had kind of a split life. My parents were divorced, so while my dad sent me to a super preppy upscale all boys school for 13 years of my life, I lived with my mom in the ghetto inner-city working at a homeless shelter and drug rehab program and going to an innercity fundamentalist baptist church ( the kind with the swaying choir singing "Amazing Grace." Except at this church I could pick out the different kinds of gunfire in the background when I got bored on Sunday nights.) So I pretty much feel comfortable in any society from high political office and rich businessmen (one of my classmates dads is the Secretary of the Treasury) all the way down to heroine addicts and cheap prostitutes.I'm an Eagle Scout and grew up hiking all over the Virginia mountains and canoeing down thr rivers in boyscouts. I know, sounds dorky but it really wasn't. I learned how to smoke and drink in scouts, and really it's way more like a subtle version of Lord of the Flies than anything else. Anyway, I definitely learned a lot.I left Richmond for college because as much as I love my family now, I wanted to get as far away from them as I legitimately could at the time. So I went to school in Boston, at Boston University, where I got a degree in International Relations, focusing on Foreign Policy and Security studies. Basically I wanted to join the CIA. But that really didn't work out for me in the end, so I stuck around boston for an extra year after graduating, working and trying to readjust my life goals. But I still love international politics and talking about religion from a practical and intellectual point of view (though, I consider myself to be an agnostic)So after 5 years in Boston I moved back to Virginia, just briefly while I planned on applying to Law School. But then I remembered that I hated being stuck in an office, and despise paperwork, and I remembered I loved photography and was pretty good at it, having always worked in photo jobs on the side of everything else, so I moved to california instead to go to school for photography in Santa Barbara.I did well in school, started working in LA, moved down here to concentrate on my career, and recently dropped out of school because I was too busy working jobs that were teaching me way more than class was. So now I'm a lighting and digital tech, and aspiring photographer here in LA. I'm usually too busy working or traveling to have much time to meet people, and so while I'm actually a very social person, my social life has been pretty pathetic lately. As for other interests, I love to travel, and have been all over the world. I love going to see live music (but don't have anyone to go with in LA which kind of drives me nuts). I actually really enjoy dancing, but I'm really not the kind of guy that goes to clubs to dance with random girls. I prefer to go with girls I already know that I can just relax and have fun with. I'm more of a dive bar kind of guy than a clubber, and I prefer Led Zepplin or Incubus to Jay-z.I drink socially, but usually refrain from acting like a frat boy or getting hammered. I smoke from time to time, but only when really stressed, really drunk, or hell, when it just seems like a really good idea. So, really not very often at all, because I'm a very easy going guy that is very hard to stress out. I don't do any drugs. I'm not judgemental or holier than thou about it, I've just tried getting stoned enough times to know that I really don't like it at all and that Jack Daniels just a better friend of mine.Hmmmm, so other than all of that, I'm 25, live alone, shave my own head because I don't want to bother making my hair look nice everyday, prefer reading to TV, unless its a very well written show, and I work free-lance in an odd schedule.Any other questions?
