A fierce blend of many styles and genres typify the sound of this forward minded thrash quartet from East London. With main Influences cited as Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Iron Maiden the other strong influences are classic rock, heavy metal, black metal, death metal, prog rock, jazz and shred guitar. This all leads to a distinctly original sound that still retains all the magnitude of thrash. A strong sense of power and immensity is shot through the bands material and their live act is even more powerful with the kind of stage persona that lead Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer and many other bands to the top.
The band was formed by the twin guitar attack of Simon Young and Andrew Thetford after the pair had only been playing guitar for an extremely short time, “We had been playing guitar for around about a week when we started up our first band†states Si, “it was with this group that we learned how to play our instruments, starting from simple stuff like ‘For Whom The Bell Tolls’ (Metallica) . This lasted for about six months until we split. At this point I knew what I wanted to do and I asked Andy to join me. Tiberium was formedâ€.
A drummer was found for the band in the form of Dave Sherwood, who at the time was drumming for a band called Side:Project. The join between Dave and Tiberium was easily made though as a few rehearsals extended into jamming sessions which allowed the three to bond over the creation of strong, heavy music.
The bass player of the band had always been a position which had been fraught with turbulence. Bassists came and went, not sharing the same drive and determination of the band, or through other issues. This meant the band took to the stage to headline an event without the backing of a bassist, and yet they still managed to create a strong fervor within the audience, sowing the seeds to a rapidly growing fan base.
Eventually, however, a bassist was found in the form of a local music technology student. The four met in the pub one night and music had begun to be discussed. Eventually this lead to Mark revealing he played the bass guitar, the band asked him to come and join them for a jam session on the Sunday (two days after meeting). It was with this jam that Mark was asked to join Tiberium, a task he readily accepted.
The band is currently working on new material all the time and is laying waste to a ready and willing live scene. With the release of a three track demo the band is also garnering attention from an even wider audience, people readily latching onto the power, the technicality and the interesting sonic structures whilst also falling head over heels for a thrash sound that is going to make sure Tiberium explode soon.
