About Me

At the Seki Ryu Zan (Mountain of the Red Dragon) we practise a style of karate called "Shotokan". Shotokan is the original form of Karate that was introduced into Japan from Okinawa by O'Sensei (Grand Master) Funakoshi. We are students of Sensei Masao Kawasoe, a graduate of the famous Japan Karate Association instructors class, who is in great demand all over the world, and we also regularly train with the world's top Japanese karate masters, such as Nishiama, Ochi and Shirai to name just a few.
Our instructors are fully licenced and insured and are recognised by the governing body for karate and The Sports Council for Wales. We are part of a non-profit making organisation, called the Welsh Traditional Karate Federation, which forms part of Kawasoe Senseis' UKTKF and Nishiama Senseis' ITKF; so all instructors teach voluntarily. Some of the instructors have been training at the Bangor University, George site Gym for over 30 years!
Apart from being great fun, Shotokan karate can also improve your fitness and flexibility, help you to defend yourself and improve your confidence and mental agility. If you want to know more, have a look at our MAIN SITE .
