Having grown up in North London listening to a diverse range of artists such as Aretha Franklin, Bob Marley, Tchaikovsky, UB40 and Cameo, Chenoa has what can only be described as an eclectic appreciation of good music which is reflected in her own artistry. ‘I prefer to be described as just an artist as it leaves a sense of freedom to express what is in my heart through poetry, song or hip hop and not be so tied down to one format……it helps keep creativity fresh…’ Her musical ability is said to be reminiscent of Lauryn Hill as she sings equally as well as she constructs rhymes over hip hop beats.Chenoa is not new to music having started singing since the tender age of 13 with her first show in front of 200 at the Hackney Empire. At that stage in her life she was part of a hip hop crew with Mr. Chang and MFG but ‘I had to stop spitting about road from such a negative perspective when I met the Lord!’ she says with a smile. She went on to study performance art for a few years and gravitated towards music over dance and drama which enabled her to refine her own performance style which is described as ‘outstandingly soulful, honest, provocative and inspiring, with effortless versatility’ – e.miner of MODChenoa has shared the stage with artists such as Jahaziel, Leon King, Jason Jermaine,
