Coming out of the bronx, this DJ is hungry enough that he will always tell you when you see him, "a real dj still plays records". its not to discredit any other DJ who plays CDs but he feels to gain real recognition the touch of vinyl will open doors many DJs will never enter. Since hanging up his baseball uniform in 2003 to pick up the art of DJing,DJ Astro was always surounded by music. Since the early 90's he played in a junior high school marching band which gave him the ear on how to count beats per measure. "This was an advantage once it came to playing records mixing from one to another". He started interning for Roc-A-Fella Records at the age of 18 bringing vinyl to various clubs for DJ's. Watching how DJ's basically control the party he realized his real true passion and stuck with it. Following in the footsteps of his mentor "The Talk Of NY" DJ SHOWBIZ, he took what little he could and turned it into his own style.In 2004, he started interning for HOT 97 landing him a spot on the street team. Since working on the street team DJ Astro has had opportunities to work with notible DJ's such as Mister Cee, DJ enuff, DJ camilo,bobby trends, funk flex etc. He also has a mixshow once a week at Weschester Community College.
