About Me

I'm 32, a native of Philadelphia, and a lover of big cities. I love the architecture, the walking, the quirky shops, the people-watching, and all the cultural opportunities. I now live in University City, MO, which is like a big city on a very small scale. My best friend and concert partner is my husband Roy. We met at a Yes concert. He even started out in college as a math major! I let him steal me away from Philadelphia to his home-metropolitan area of St. Louis.

My Interests

I like math, Star Trek, other science fiction, historical fiction, art-house films, computers, oh lord, I'm a geek. I work full time as a cost estimator/analyst and go to school for a certificate in database principles.

Music:

I am obsessed with my favorite bands - Yes, King Crimson, Traffic, Renaissance, all of the 1970's progressive rock era. I love to go to concerts and see my favorite bands over and over again. I've seen Yes 59 times now. Among newer bands, I like October Project, echolyn, Radiohead, Coldplay, Sigur Ros, Spiraling.

Movies:

Sense and Sensibility, Four Weddings and a Funeral, stuff with English accents

Television:

Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Frasier, The Simpsons, Smallville, Doctor Who, Heroes

Books:

A Little Princess, The Time Traveller's Wife, Tudor-era historical fiction, Jane Austen

Heroes:

I've been lucky enough to meet most of my musical heroes - Jon Anderson and almost all the members of Yes, Adrian Belew, Steve Winwood.

Concert Karma

A long time ago, probably late last year, a Billy Joel concert was announced in St. Louis. I hadn't been to a big arena show in a while. We looked into getting tickets, but most seats were $85, and th...
