Douglas Woodlane

Douglas Woodlane was born the son of a sharecroper. He slept on a straw matress and grew his own food. In his later years, he dabbled in politics and went on to invent yellow journalism. Recently, he spearheaded The League of Democrats Living With Gingivitis. Currently, DW is running to hold office in his local neigborhood crime watch. His political and social expressions are channeled through a musical landscape which he has chosen to share with others. So tune in and drop out.From the likes of John Prine, Jeff Tweedy and local-ite Will Johnson, Douglas Woodlane’s music is an acoustic blend of folk danglings and low-fi indie ooze. It is a musical style reminiscent of 70’s country-folk meets garage recording artist. Woodlane is a native of the DFW metroplex and is also a member of Bluetortillas ( a Dallas band w/ country-rock leanings and AM Gold leftovers). His solo effort Stereopawnshop is a collection of modest originals peppered with a few skewed covers (GBV, Wilco, Sabbath). “It seemed like a good opportunity to lay down a few tunes that did not really have a home at the time. I had also written a song for my young daughter which needed to be committed to tape.” These songs plus a scattering of covers came to be Stereopawnshop. His sophmore album, The Very Best of Douglas Woodlane follows along the same lines. Sound like bullshit? Well now Douglas Woodlane is back w/ his latest effort "Douglas Woodlane and the Thieves". It is a more rock-forward collection of songs w/a seminal approach. Look for it in no stores soon.
