About Me
BIOGRAPHY
After twenty-five years of playing piano, the old adage I do not play music because I am happy I am happy because I play music shines true for Bryan. For over seventeen years he has turned to music and lyrical composition as many do to a diary, creating an ever-evolving soundtrack of his private thoughts and experiences. While often anonymously inserting instrumental originals into public performances, becoming recognized as a professional songwriter was never a priority. The music was incredibly personal and, as he often joked, cheaper than therapy. Having worked extensively as an artist manager and promoter in the world of rock music and entertainment, there was no illusion of grandeur or instant success, either.
However, in 2004 and under the gentle accusation of being selfish for not recording the music for close friends, something happened. The Midnight Demos featured ten solo piano compositions and was initially intended to fulfill the requests of friends and family to have some music on CD. But the feedback was so encouraging and persistent to release it publicly that Bryan tentatively began offering it through a few independent music stores and via the internet. It soon became apparent that many others felt a special connection with the music too. Not uncommon were letters from listeners being moved to tears, as well as humbling expressions of praise and gratitude. Many commented on how it helped them heal in some way, a property of music Bryan has always believed in as well as utilized for his own growth. The unexpected success of The Midnight Demos evolved into his latest release, Shining After Midnight.
By age twelve, Bryan was performing most weekends in a fine-dining restaurant in his hometown of Goderich, Ontario. He began exploring songwriting around fifteen and a year later moved to Toronto to attend the Etobicoke School of the Arts, majoring in piano and percussion. Graduating from the Harris Institute with Honours in Recording Arts Management laid the foundation for a successful career as an artist manager and promoter based in Toronto. A seven-year bout with Lyme Disease became the turning point in bringing the music focus back to his own material, an experience which is directly responsible for the current availability of his recordings. Other passions include fun & adventure, entrepreneurship, becoming a singer and learning to play guitar, reading and writing, photography, soapstone carving, friendship, quantum physics, and spirituality.
