I collect Celtic Knotwork pieces, both on my body and off. I have 8 tattoos, of which 5 are Celtic Knotwork (the other 3 are a Capricorn sign, an ankh, and a butterfly faerie). I collect books on Celtic Myths and Folklore and am interested in British Isle/Northern European Mythology and Mysticism. My hubby and I are both of Scottish & Irish descent. I love faeries and Hayden seems to also. I also have gone through dragon and wizard loving phases and still collect cool pieces if I run across them. I am also pierced beyond my ears and my hubby and I would both love more tats and piercings, but extra money for that kind of stuff is hard to come by on only one income, a pricey mortgage and two kids, not to mention our fabulous tattooist, Clay, relocated to Minnesota a few years back...but someday!I love music and movies (especially Star Wars--one of our most prized possessions is a life-sized Yoda) and watch a decent amount of television. I enjoy trivia games, predominantly movie, music or pop culture. We both love to Karaoke and do that regularly. I like to bowl although I have chosen a new goal with my bowling and that is speed vs. accuracy...my speed to beat at the moment is 46.2mph, and I am digging Roller Derby at the moment as well...wish I could skate well and take the brutality of it all because I'd LOVE to do that!!! I am a VERY social person and love spending time with my friends.
I'd like to meet:
Everybody has a list of celebrities they'd like to meet, however, I've already met Peter Murphy (Bauhaus and amazing solo as well) and had brunch with Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), so I am feeling REALLY fortunate as it is......
I'd actually LOVE to hang out with Eddie Izzard (what's better than a brilliant and sexy man in heels?!?!), Ricky Gervais, Adam Sandler and probably even Drew Carey (although I was mortified to find out that both Drew Carey and Adam Sandler are Republicans--please correct me if I'm wrong!!!).......I do love the comedians though, even if they claim they're not as funny in "real" life. My latest love and addiction is Jemaine and Bret aka The Flight of the Conchords...they'd easily be worth the trip to New Zealand afterall there are Vikings there! :)..........At some point there was probably a list of historical figures that made some huge impact on the world that I would have aspired to meet, but sadly that idealism has drowned over time.........I'd love to find some other parents around our age who have similar tastes in movies and/or music, like to do the same types of social things that we do, and have some sort of similar spiritual belief system that they call on or practice, ESPECIALLY if they are local and/or nearby.
Music:
I like punk, new wave, ska, reggae, goth, industrial, rockabilly, disco, some 50s, 60s, most 70s, most 80s, very few 90s; Bauhaus/Peter Murphy, Love & Rockets, NIN, Sisters of Mercy, Siouxsie & the Banshees, The Cure, The Smiths, Duran Duran, David Bowie, Nick Cave, Paul Weller/The Jam/The Style Council, The Specials, The Clash, Echo & the Bunnymen, Gene Loves Jezebel, New Order, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Laurie Anderson, Sinead O'Connor, The Pogues, U2, Dead Can Dance, This Mortal Coil, The Cocteau Twins, Art of Noise, The Talking Heads, B-52's, Weird Al Yankovic, Jesus Christ Superstar, Neil Diamond and Barbra Streisand are some of my favorites (because I'm an old-school dork!) I couldn't begin to list all of my favorite bands from the 80s...pretty much any British New Wave/New Romantic Era stuff (Berlin, Human League, ABC, Depeche Mode, OMD, Tears For Fears, Wham!/George Michael etc.)...but NO butt-rock/bad hair band stuff...I was NEVER a rocker chick!! Apparently my music tastes are as eclectic as my film tastes.
Movies:
I'm a big sci-fi geek, like just about any sci-fi movie I've seen (except Starship Troopers), I even like Battlefield Earth because it's so bloody awful that it makes it good!I absolutely love anything Star Wars and actually knew the 2 silly boys (RIP Johnny G) that lived in the parking lot in Seattle for 4 months waiting for Episode II. I actually spent quite a bit of time down at the Cinerama parking lot myself that year, even though I was 25 weeks pregnant with Hayden at the time...no wonder she responded so intensely to the Star Wars theme song when she was an infant!I like comedy, dry, British, and absolutely stupid preposterous idiot American comedy too (the kind that Christopher Guest apparently doesn't like) for instance my hubby and I actually ENJOYED "Freddy Got Fingered".
The Hunger, Ladyhawke, Happy Texas, The Original Gidget with Sandra Dee and James Darren, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Brigadoon, Cat Ballou, All Molly Ringwald 80s movies, Brotherhood of the Wolf, Saving Silverman, Shallow Hal, Blade Runner, LOTR, HP, SW, and most of the comic based films, etc., are some of my favs and show an accurate depiction of how eclectic and random my movie tastes truly are.

Television:
I watched Will & Grace, Six Feet Under and Carnivale before they were cancelled. I currently watch The Office, My Name is Earl, Scrubs, Prison Break, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Heroes, ANTM, Rock of Love II, Bionic Woman, Big Love, Lost, Battlestar Galactica,Tell Me You Love Me, Extras, Flight of the Conchords (and occasionally Bill Maher). I'm not hooked on reality tv, but have been sucked into several of the shows over the years. I think I've FINALLY out-grown American Idol though, because last season sucked, imho, and I have ZERO interest in watching this year!! But, do keep your eyes on ABC's Wife Swap as we may end up on there at some point, no, seriously. Some of my other favorite series in the past few years have been on Fox and bombed and been taken off within a few episodes of the pilots or after a year or so, just when I've really gotten sucked into them, for example, John Doe, Dark Angel, Boston Public, and of course, Firefly...which will, imho, always be the biggest travesty in the universe when it comes to how the hell could they have EVER canceled such an amazing show?!?!Looking forward to some good new sitcoms whenever they get around to producing them. Dramas don't tend to draw me in these days, although thanks to a good friend's insanely large and all-encompassing selection of DVDs, that I not only contribute my newly found (and finally up-to-date/real time) addiction to Lost and Battlestar to, but also my very "better late than never" love of Buffy and Angel (since I never watched them when they were originally being aired) and was able to watch the entire SERIES of both while laid up after surgery in April of 2007). I did enjoy them...but I still think that I like Firefly better where Joss Whedon's series are concerned!
Books:
I have loved every Star Wars novel I've read (I've had dinner with Timothy Zahn, one of the best SW novelists). I love Marion Zimmer Bradley (all though haven't read the 2 Avalon books published after her tragic death), the typical fantasy/sci-fi staples, such as Chronicles of Narnia, LOTR, A Wrinkle in Time, Harry Potter, etc. I have read most of the new kids' fantasy/sci-fi series coming out lately like Land of Elyon Series, Magyk & Flyte, The Edge Chronicles, some Lemony Snicket, Cornelia Funke's Inkheart, Dragon Rider & The Thief Lord, all of Eoin Colfer's Artemis Fowl books and The Wish List, Eragon and Eldest etc. (They may be geared towards 12yr olds, but I haven't admitted to being a grown-up yet, anyway). I have greatly enjoyed every Anne Rice novel I've read under her pseudonym or no, of course especially the Vampire Chronicles (older Lestat one) and the Mayfair Witch series. I've finally finished the first 5 Outlander series books by Diana Gabaldon and as everyone's been trying to tell me for the last 7+ years, I LOVED them. I have yet to read the new Outlander book, even though I've acquired it and of course the Harry Potter movies and books! I also recently read Stephenie Meyer's Vampire/Werewolf trilogy which is set in Forks, WA, Twilight, New Moon & Eclipse, which I enjoyed. I did for a brief time become side-tracked by the political arena and read "God's Politics--Why the Right Gets It Wrong and the Left Doesn't Get It" by Jim Wallis...I loved it and can not recommend it enough--that man should run for President! I do prefer fiction, however. If I want reality, I'll turn on the news or read the paper. I have enjoyed reading about various religions and political idealogies in the past, however I seem to be back to the fantasy world for the moment.
Heroes:
Jesus, the first genuine hippie, Spiderman, Sean Connery's 007, Lindsay Wagner's Bionic Woman, Linda Carter's Wonder Woman, Bill Bixby & Lou Ferrigno's Hulk, George Peppard on the A-Team, and Dirk Benedict from both A-Team AND the original Battlestar Galactica and of course Princess Leia and Padme' Amidala. Seriously, Jesus, my hubby, my Mom and Dad, my doctor, my high school History teacher, Paul Weller and all of Duran Duran (but especially Simon and Nick), Peter Murphy, David Bowie, Nick Cave, Catherine Deneuve, Susan Sarandon, The Green Party, Bill Clinton and two real-life guys that are heros merely because they've surpassed the "cool quotient" of anyone else I've ever met or been friends with, they're Spencer M and Tommyboy. (neither married yet, btw)!!!
