Warning... this is not your average rapper. In fact, with his refreshing
lyrical skills, honest delivery and compelling life story, rising
hip-hop artist Hannibal is anything but. Already grabbing the attention
of a cynical music industry and a legion of hip-hop fans who have been
starving for good some hip-hop music. Hannibal first burst on the scene
in 2004, when he won
Billboard's prestigious new artist showcase. Since then he has graced
the stages with the likes of Lil Scrappy, Brian McKnight , Pitbull, Guy
and Bone Crusher to name a few. Hannibal is currently working on his
first solo album "ISSUES"Hannibal's story begins in South Jamaica Queens where he grew up with
his entire family. His happy childhood came to screeching halt when at
the tender age of seven, his family's home was burned down by his drug
addicted father and Hannibal was sent to live with his grandmother.
After that painful event, young Hannibal continued to experience
tragedy, losing countless close friends and family members to street
violence. It was during these trying years, that the young man was
introduced to hip-hop. One night while breaking curfew at a park jam,
Hannibal directly witnessed the relationship between the mc and the beat
and from that point on knew he had found his future in hip-hop. The
budding MC began to immerse himself into his music as a means to escape
his everyday struggles as well as an outlet to express himself. However,
another situation soon forced him to put the mic down and place his
fledgling career on hold. While many rappers proclaim to be soldiers,
Hannibal actually enlisted into the United States army 6 years ago and
was called to serve a tour of duty. His unit currently remains on alert
and at anytime Hannibal could be called to fight in the war in Iraq. In
the meantime, the rapper returned home and back to his true
love-hip-hop.These experiences are just a few of many that have shaped Hannibal into
the man, and the artist, that he is today. Hannibal has uses these
experiences as the fuel to fire his music. "My music is a reflection of
the good and bad times that I have been through from my childhood to
manhood", says Hannibal earnestly. "My music is truly me. I hold nothing
back because that is what I feel music should be". These elements of
truth, joy, pain and struggle put in a story telling form have created a
sound that is second to none as evidenced by songs like and .Hannibal is ready to take what's rightfully his with clever rhyme
schemes, catchy hooks and a flow that catches you from the first word.
Are you prepared for history in the making? You have been warned.
