About Me

I'm working on my Ph.D. in history, on executions and executioners. European history - British, French, German are my main areas of focus, but I'm too eclectic to limit myself to those only.On the home front, Jeff and I are in our 22nd year together. We currently have one dog, a mini-Schnauzer who is a cancer survivor. To see my library: http://www.librarything.com/profile/AlexTheHunn

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Great writers, thinkers, musicians, artists, athletes -- anyone who excels in his or her field.
I wouldn't say no to meeting Brad Pitt, either.

Birthdays and celebrations

Let me count the ways.

Assuming we make it to Labor Day, Jeff and will then be together 21 full years.  It's both astonishing and unremarkable at the same time.   One of the surprising parts is how we de...

Funeral For a Friend

We had GiGi's funeral Tuesday.  It was well attended.  There were lots of flowers, lovely music, plenty of people, and mounds of food brought to the house afterwards.  It was pleas...

Proper manners

One of the benefits of being an only child is you don't have to share the bounty.   (Apologies to my brother, but he knows, and I've explained before, he and I were both "only children".)&nb...

GiGi and stuff

I haven't written in a while.  One thing and another.  Life gets in the way of writing about life.  Mary Connell describes writing a novel based on her life, filled with exciting and lu...
