About Me
Gonna write the new Frank bio. Here we go.Formed in 2001, Frank is a band that rehearses in the Gowanus section of Brooklyn, New York, and plays shows wherever they are welcome, assuming all four members don’t have other plans they can’t get out of.Frank’s music is quite eclectic, though overall it can pretty safely be called rock and roll. The band’s first two records (as a guitar/bass/drums three piece band) had somewhat disparate influences like The Replacements, The Clash, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sam and Dave and The Minutemen. Frank’s current composition (guitar/bass/drums/keys-or-another-guitar) has a sound that includes most of the earlier influences, but tends to be more varied and textured, adding influences like Radiohead, Wilco, Frank Zappa, Funkadelic, Sonic Youth and Jimmy Reed into the mix.The new Frank definitely sounds different than the old Frank, but the new Frank hasn’t made a record yet. We will soon. Until then you’ll have to come see us live or take my word for it. I really like the new Frank. I really liked the old Frank too, but the new Frank seems more current, which makes sense. To the extent such things impress you, Frank and its members’ previous bands have played with or shared the stage with the likes of Live, the Goo Goo Dolls, They Might Be Giants, The Spin Doctors the Band and God Street Wine. So we‘ve got that going for us.The current membership of Frank is as follows:Scott Porter – Lead Vocals, GuitarScott was the first member of Frank, in that it was his idea to start the band, and there was no one else around when he had that idea. Frank is Scott’s favorite band. Scott has been known to be rather emphatic on occasion.Billy Ziff – BassScott met Billy on the internet. For Scott, it was the first time an internet hookup led to a long term relationship. Billy is an excellent bass player, and rarely wears shoes on stage. If I had to watch a sitcom written by one member of the band, I would watch Billy’s sitcom.Seth Glickman – Keyboards, Guitar, VocalsSeth and Scott have known and played music together for a longer time than either of them would like to admit. Seth is a force of nature, complete with his own relativity, time and space. If you know Seth, you know what I mean.Evan Prettyman – Drums, VocalsLike Billy, Evan came from the internet. He is simultaneously enigmatic and positive, which is a very cool trick. All of the other members of Frank secretly think Evan likes them best, but only Evan knows the truth – he thinks Scott is awesome. We make music because we love to make music. Hope to see you soon.
