Sawed-off's Biography
It started in the year 2004 when singer and guitarist Jochen Oostinggot some guys together in the Popbunker in Leeuwarden to play Reggae-music.
These guys were:
Harm Muurling on bass-guitar,
Thomas Zeevalking on drums,
Markus Zeevalking on lead-guitar
and Rutger Wildeman on rhytm-guitar.
Influenced by artists like Sublime, Bob Marley and Burning spear they were off to a great start performing in “De volle maan†in Groningen.
Right after this first gig, Rutger quit the band. He felt he couldn’t get in the groove of the reggae-music. So logically Jochen took over the rhythm-guitar. Milo Wolfert, piano-player and professional piano-tuner, joined the band and Sawed-off started to develope its own characteristic sound; a heavy Reggae-groove combined with a raw voice.
After a lot of great gigs Sawed-off really felt it was time to get a horn-section in the band so Ming Yang (Trombone) and Cees Bruinsma (Trumpet) stepped in. Due to personal reasons Ming Yang decided to quit the band. He still plays along occasionally. So when you check out one of Sawed-offs shows, you could the lucky one to see this guy play!
Currently, Sawed-off is working on a new album, which will be ready soon.
