"SIMPLY SUPERB"
KERRANG! MAGAZINE KKKK
"North-Coast newcomers Crooked Little Town start 2009 with a bang, their stirling debut LP already beginning to gain momentum with fervent word of mouth ensuring the 'Little Town are one of the biggest names on the grapevine. Serving as both album title and mantra, "Act Now, Delay is Fatal" perfectly sums up the sweeping, no frills attitude of the Coleraine quartet; one that saw the band unwilling to be tied down by music-industry bureaucracy and independently recording the aforementioned, soon-to-be-released debut.
Combining the accesibly melodic, yet still challengingly abrasive riffage of the likes of My Chemical Romance and Alkaline Trio with a genuinely impassioned vocal style that manages to be truly affecting without the running-mascara gothic pretence, this is one of the most promising, unconventionally Northern Irish sounds to emerge in years. From the jagged drama of opening track Cyanide via the fantastically quirky powerpunk of Cameras Never Lie and piercing, strikingly accomplished musicianship of No Answer, No Reply right to piano led, beautifully fragile closing ballad On The Outside, albums (let alone debuts) of this consistently superb mettle are the stuff of industry lore. To describe them as "emo" would be a simple disservice, not only in that they defy the musical limitations of that term but also in their lack of acquiescence to transient scene politics. A better description would be "innovative modern punk with a dash of darkness and a view to accesibility;" not only that, but with a perfect tension between commitment (to their music) and charisma, these guys have the potential to become the standard bearers for REAL Northern Irish rock for some time to come."(Sam Law)
"Crooked Little Town are simply superb.
Grabbing the audience by the throat with a performance pitched prodigiously between Head Automatica & Alkaline Trio, their as yet undistributed debut seems like altogether hotter property"
