Beauty and happiness happen very unexpectedly. Often it’s the simple things, like driving alone in your car and listening to a song that perfectly hits your mood. The knowledge of these moments should encourage us to live through the rest. I sometimes encounter happiness when making music. And maybe one day we can contribute to a lucky moment in one person’s live.
As a band without words, or at least with very few, and as a band of four polite men, I feel the necessity to encourage you to mistrust the obvious. We say "thank you" and help elderly women cross the street. But we are not part of "it". We stand kind of beside it. We didn’t choose to do so, it just happened. Our lives are not alright. We do not share the values of the world that surrounds us. Most of us have rather obvious conflicts with life, but even the seemingly lucky ones suffer from being too different to draw satisfation from what gives satisfaction to everyone else.
Sorry, all this sounds so naive, and will probably be erased in some days, but it somehow had to be said.
Maybe one thing could be interesting about Volvo Penta: We like Dogmata. Not in normal life, but in the band life. For example: There will not be a single distorted guitar on the first album, that is why "Mantra" will only make it on the B-side of our first single or EP. And we do not record with digital reverbs or equalization. We try to do it all with a clever positioning of the microphones. The original idea of the band was to have as many people as possible playing as little as possible, but as we are only three, it does not work out properly at the moment. And maybe its good to know that we often break our rules. It is more fun to break rules that to have none..
