Kate is a singer/songwriter hailing from Baltimore. Originally a classical flute player and self-professed band nerd, she began to direct her musical energies to singing and the guitar upon coming to Davidson, NC in 2001. Her love of folk music and flute playing were happily combined during a three month stint in Galway, Ireland, where she got her first taste of traditional Irish flute playing. In December 2005, Kate joined the Celtic band The Beggar Boys, singing lead vocals and playing guitar and wooden flute. Their music has been featured on 89.9 FM WDAV's program The Main Street Sessions. In 2006 Kate was voted Reader's Pick for Charlotte's Best Female Vocalist in Creative Loafing magazine. Her first record, Right Now, features 10 original songs and was independently released in September 2006.Kate currently lives in Boston where she is happily soaking up the many opportunities to hear and play tunes!
