Gee, not sure what to say in this box, so I'll just ramble on and on. I'm Mike D. in the place to be.
I guess I can say that I'm a city guy with a country heart. Why do I say this? Well when I was growing up I would spend a week on my grandparents farm located in the country side of York, PA with the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains off in the distance. In the morning I would get up and help my Gramma feed the horses, chickens and cats. I remember one time I asked my Gramma one night before I went to bed, what would happen to the farm after they are gone. Well in 2004 I found out. It got sold to photographer from Time-Life magazine. The farmhouse was old. It was built out of stone and the summer house next to it was also made of stone. The corner stone in the attic said the house was built in the 1860s. I really found out that I had a country heart, when I attended Vincennes University and fell in love with the town. I used to tell my friends that I wanted to live a small town like that someday and they would laugh at me.
I do some writing on the side. I wrote a short horror story about working overnights at the store I work at a few years ago. I submitted it to some magazines and got rejected. Not sure what happened to the story, since I gave them all away to my friends and family. My best ideas come in the shower, though, but by the time I get out I totally forgot them all. Why is that? I do have a small notebook I carry around with me, but it isn't waterproof.
I'm originally from this small little town called Merrillville where I was involved in the Boy Scouts. I even made Eagle Scout. Oh how I miss camping in the middle of the winter in tent. Each month we would go camping, but I think my favorite place to camp was the Indiana Dunes. It is located off of Lake Michigan and they have every kind of vegetation, from woodlands to marshes and of course the sand dunes. I love the outdoors. I used to spend summers out in the woods with my friend Matt and his brother building tree houses and exploring.
People usually always see me smiling and laughing about something. I can be a total smart ass at times and it takes a lot to get me mad, but if you do watch out. I do have a lot different opinions on things from global warming to government involvement with trying to censor the press to the little things as who puts the caps on the toothpaste tubes.
