STRAGO (Madrid) Dj & producer Javier Serrano aka Strago hails from Spain's capital city, Madrid. His musical background includes a solid training at one of the most prestigious Spanish music schools, in which he was admitted at the tender age of 10. In 97, a trip to London and a visit to a couple of legendary clubs such as The End or the Metalheadz sundays at Blue Note got him instantly hooked to drum&bass, an addiction that he still hasn't been able to kick! In the year 2000 he started promoting his own nights, djing in and around the Madrid area and founded the mighty Killabass crew. In 2003, he moved along and launched Mutacube, a new crew which was later to become a recordlabel, releasing tunes both on vinyl and digital formats.
As a dj, Strago's played in festivals, clubs and free parties all over Spain, alongside the nation's finest artists and an ever increasing number of UK top dogs. His style on the decks is best described as dark and dynamic, expertly mixing the freshest dubs with classics and forgotten gems rescued from his numerous crates!
As a producer, his carreer has just begun! He's behind Mutacube's first two releases (Stormseeker/ 2005 and Evolution/2006). This last one received airplay from Bailey on his 1xtra show and was distributed worldwide by NuUrban. The third release is out now (Krone & Strago - Artificial Universe / Lost Planet. Fifth and fourth releases on the label are in the pipeline and,additionally, the Mutacube Digital label has just been launched with a 4-track ep that's already causing a stir on the more 'serious' dancefloors(Tiger Road EP, 2008).
Out Mutacube, his tune Akakor is part of the LP - Once Bitten Twice High - at Vampire Recordings, where he has signed more tunes for the forthcoming releases. He also has signed Setroplocon, an amazing colaboration with Malsum for Cyclone Recordings. His tune Ghost Militia will be released too in Melting Pot Records.STRAGO (MUTACUBE / PLURALFORM) Madrid. Javier Serrano, dj y productor nacido en Segovia en 1978. Su interes por la musica comienza desde muy joven. A los 10 años ingresa en el conservatorio de Guadalajara donde obtendra los estudios musicales superiores. En 1997 realiza un viaje a Londres donde toma contacto con el movimiento Drum and Bass, visitando clubs como el legendario Blue Note a mano de Metalheadz, o el conocido The End. Después de varios viajes a Londres y de recopilación de vinilos, en el año 2000 comienza a pinchar en fiestas y a organizar eventos. Durante su trayectoria ha pertenecido a colectivos como Dynamite Sound System o Killabass en su primera epoca,hasta finales del 2003, año en el que funda Mutacube, colectivo residente en Madrid, el cual transforma en sello discográfico a partir de mediados del 2005. Recientemente tambien ha sido incluido en el rooster de Pluralform. Como dj ha actuado en salas madrileñas como Arena, Yasta, Coppelia, Ritmo y compas, Bandudu, Still, Twist, Xpectrum, Mynt, Wind...y valencianas como Jungle, Le Club o Long Track, asi como en la radio Londinense UK Rumble, ademas de diversos clubs de la geografia española, como Industrial Copera, sala Cianuro, donde fue residente de las noches Mutacube, famosas por su masivo Sound System, sala In, sala Xion, Rock Star, Pitch Club entre otras. Tambien en festivales como el de musica electronica San Froilan (2001), Evantec (2003), FMIC (2005) o el Meeting Drum n Bass (2006). . Ha compartido cartel con la mayoria de los djs nacionales asi como con internacionales, de sellos como Metalheadz, Renegade Hardware, RAM o Infrared entre otros. Su estilo a los platos se puede definir como Drum and bass oscuro y contundente pinchado con precision y dinamismo, combinando las mas frescas dubs, promos y rarezas antiguas. Como productor su carrera acaba de empezar, ha planchado en vinilo dos referencias, en la primera los temas “Stormseeker†y “The Knife†(2005) y en la segunda “Evolution†(2006) junto a Krone, ambas en MUTACUBE RECORDINGS. Este ultimo tema ha sido recientemente pinchado en la BBC 1XTRA de Londres por dj Bailey (Metalheadz), y ha conseguido distribución internacional, siendo fichado por NUurban. Actualmente prepara el lanzamiento del cuarto y quinto 12" en el que se plancharan sus temas junto con colaboraciones con otros artistas.
Fuera de Mutacube ha firmado varios temas por sellos ingleses como Vampire y Cyclone Recordings...
