forget about your house of cards, and i'll do mine....

About Me

i spend an inordinate amount of time thinking up things that make me laugh. i might be insane. i enjoy the color blue. i would like to sugar the gas tank of KIT from Knight-Rider, just to see what happens. i haven't had cable since June and i don't miss it at all. i really hope soccer takes hold in the states because the World Cup was a bitching good time. i hate cold weather. i don't do drugs, which may be hard to believe. i don't mind people that do. i'm kind of an introvert but people that have met me will never believe that. i love cereal. i would like to push over one of the rows at Wal-Mart to see if i could get a domino effect going. you should vote for me when i run for president one day. i have the kind of memory that seems to retain every mundane thing that's ever happened to me. i believe most people want to do good in the world, they just don't want to put the effort into it. i believe religion really is the opiate of the masses but i also believe there is something greater than us. the problem is that we are arrogant enough to believe we can define it. i think that mathematics is the language of God (whatever he/she/it is) which explains alot of why we struggle so badly with understanding higher powers; we're crappy math students. this also makes me wonder why carl sagan was an atheist. i believe my parents are the greatest people i will ever meet. i think everything is an advertising scheme, including so-called love. i think chimpanzees are endlessly entertaining. i'm think "the adventures of pete & pete" might be the greatest show ever (especially "day of the dot"). i sometimes wonder if the slack-jawed yokels around me are the winners of the evolutionary sweepstakes, who in the hell were the losers? i am a seventh degree black-belt in cynicism, but alot of it is because i see what could be and am disappointed by what is. i avoid shoes whenever possible. but enough about me, how about you?

things i'll probably regret when i finally buckle down and become a productive member of society

I'd like to meet:

bob dylan, andre 3000, jon stewart, chuck klosterman, bill simmons, scarlett johannson, sam farha, jeff buckley, you, your dog, danger mouse, a leprechaun, natalie portman, malcolm x, noam chomsky, jeff mangum, my morning jacket, johnny knoxville, thom yorke, lara logan (the saucy-hot CBS foreign correspondent), jay-z, rick rubin , jack nicholson, robert deniro, chan marshall, bill clinton, shepard fairey

Music:

I think Johnny Cash said it way better than I ever could: "I love songs about horses, railroads, land, Judgement Day, family, hard times, whiskey, courtship, marriage, adultery, seperation, murder, war, prison, rambling, damnation, home, salvation, death, pride, humor, piety, rebellion, patriotism, larceny, determination, tragedy, rowdiness, heartbreak, & love. And Mother. And God."

Movies:

up for about anything, just don't ruin them by telling how great they're going to be

Television:

is much more entertaining when thrown off of great heights as opposed to actually being watched...

Books:

will probably be burned in mass quantities in the coming years, the way things are going...

Heroes:

people that are unafraid to take an unpopular stand because it is the right thing to do...and "Macho Man" Randy Savage...and Wile E. Coyote for proving that even though persistence probably won't pay off, it's boring to do nothing...and "The Young & Fabulous" Jackie West... a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank" Pearl Jam - Do the Evolution

candidate debates, the blue plum, my future tragic career

so i watched the republican debates with my pops last night. i think he, a life-long and ardent republican, said it best when he stated, "who are these guys?" now, basher of the current administration...

memories are a funny thing

I was bored last night so i watched Fahrenheit 9/11 again for the first time in a long time. I firmly believe that watching it is becoming harder the more time goes on. It's only been a few years sinc...

The forecast is an 80-85% chance we're fucked...

So I finally got to see An Inconvenient Truth this morning, after I had been reading George Carlin's When Will Jesus Bring The Pork Chops. You could say it was an interesting start to the day. I know ...

my journey through music (chronologically speaking)

so i've been re-reading Klosterman's Fargo Rock City, in which Chuck is reliving his adolescence as a metal fan and subsequently examines the whole genre in a present context. i fucking love this book...

Cover song kiss of death

Yeah, I'm a fucking loser because I think up shit like this. But it is what it is. You put out a cover song, you go in the crapper. If you are a really good band, it make take a few cover songs to eff...

The Double Album kiss of death

Another favorite theory of mine is that artists who release double albums will inevitably see their career end, literally or figuratively. The rules to this are loosely that the album can't be a live ...

So I have been keeping a list of bands that are dead to me in my head for some time now, because i think of mundane shit like this. I think it's kind of fun to debate this with people though. I'll giv...
