I am here for Networking

About Me

It ain't about me, it's about the music. Come to this little group of towns nestled on the majestic Tennessee River, and you can hear what I'm talking about. We have jazz, rock, blues, bluegrass, punk, country, metal, and bands that freely cross between genres, apologizing to no one. Musicians here are not afraid to mix it up, to improvise, to find a whole new sound all their own. It shouldn't be a surprise, because there was a time when most of the hits on your radio dial were recorded here. Ever heard of Lynyrd Skynyrd? Aretha Franklin? The Rolling Stones? They made this place their hit-recording capitol -- and new bands from The Pine Hill Haints to The Drive-By Truckers claim their legacy today.

Pics from Even the Moon

I'd been wondering when, or whether, Even the Moon would play again. They finally came out of seclusion last Saturday night at Old Town Tavern in Sheffield. The hiatus was a good thing for them -- the...

The Wednesdays

The Wednesdays are punk without the stereotypes. Frontman Jamie Barrier plays an acoustic guitar with a feather hanging off the neck. Bassist Joey Barrier likes to jump off the drumkit, but his church...

Even the Moon

At the other end of the musical spectrum from bands like Ledbetter and Fiddleworms is Even the Moon. A collaborative effort of Shayne Singleton, Chris James, Scot McKinney, Kevin Reed, and Brian Davis...

Worms Rock the Pocket

The Fiddleworms' last CD, Year of the Cock, was a welcome return for a band that broke up in the 90s while on the cusp of success. But 'Worms are the most tasty when you eat their music live. Now they...

Boombox Plus

Take in a Boombox show, and you'll feel like you've had a vacation. Russ Randolph, a.k.a "The Captain," never makes the same music twice with his soundboard. Add Zion Godchaux's funky guitar and smoot...
