About Me

Joakim Frøystein presents his solo-project Sugarghost, a powerful blend of melted jazz, elastic electronica and pop turned inside out. Laptop, guitar and voice is the core of this unique sonic world, where samples of metalfoil and plastic bags play games with bass clarinet, double bass and drums.
Sugarghost has toured all over Scandinavia with his solo-act, hailed by audience and critics. The debut album ”Sweet Secrets” caused nomintations for two ”Danish Music Awards – Jazz”, in the categories ”Best Crossover-jazz Release” and ”New name of the year”.
With Ext. the line up is extended with toptrained improvisers from the Copenhagen underground. The Musicians complement the electronic presition and supplies it with human presence. This group communicates in an almost telepathic way, as they travel through musical landscapes where supernatural overtones become strange undertows from curling bass-lines and pulverised textures. The musical travel leads into abstract sidetracks, dead ends and through hidden auditory canals you where not aware of. Expect an organic and strongly suggestive experience shifting between intimate noise, fragile vocals, exploding free improv. and ambience soft as silk.
