About Me

First step to owning a problem is to admit it right? Well here it is then ... I Karly Larson (Forgette to those of you from HS) ... am an obsessive eyebrow plucker. But I have it under control. I swear. I get the compliments to prove it.

There is much more to me than eyebrows, though. Especially now that there is much less of them.

I am a photographer, mostly fashion, and a little fine art, a cal poly slo graduate, a musician, and a cat owner. I moved to the bay area two years ago, and I really like it. Well, I like San Francisco and plan on living in the city, at least for a little while, some day.

I am an information junkie. (Almost) everything fascinates me. That is why I loved school so much ... and got an Anthropology minor that I will most likely never use. Oh well ... who knows ... I am still figuring out what I want to do when I grow up. I have a head start with a degree in photography, but I have recently been playing with the idea of opening my own cafe or bakery. Or maybe a nutritional anthropologist ... or a fashion and jewelry designer or ...

Let's go ride bikes! =) just kidding.

Or not. I love to cycle and swim. As long as there is someone to talk to or great music. And I LOVE anime. It is a little scary sometimes. I wonder if they have a 12 step program for that ...

My Interests

photography, art, fashion, music, cycling, culture, movies, anthropology, astronomy, human nature, cooking/baking (locavore style, yo) ... Or just plain ol' hangin' with friends and family with good food good drinks and good conversation. I wouldn't even mind a board game or two =).

I'd like to meet:

Old friends from High school (Sara where are you?), or Cal Poly (band and photo department). Or anyone here in the Bay interested in doing some collaborative projects. I am really excited for the opportunity to meet other people who are passionate about the same things as me. Oh ... and the authors Augusten Burroughs, Chuck Palahniuk, China Mieville, Michael Pollan and artist Phil Hensen, because they're just awesome.

Music:

Jack Johnson, Death Cab for Cutie, Coldplay, Gorillaz, Morchiba, Ben Folds, Ben Folds Five, Tom Petty, DJ Shadow, Way out West, Gnarls Barkley, Maroon 5, Bebel Gilberto, Jonny Cash, Young Blood Brass Band, The Police, Stevie Wonder, Joanie Mitchell, KT Tunstall, Buddy Rich, Aerosmith, The Doors... Ahhh there are too many to remember, and half the time I don't even know the band's name.

Movies:

Anything by Hayo Miyazaki, Setven Soderberg, Quentin Terantino, or Christopher Guest. The Lord of the Rings, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Hero, The House of Flying Daggers, Amelie, Contact, The Fifth Element, X-Men, Whale Rider, The Dark Crystal, Serenity, Fearless, Monty Python's Holy Grail, Gladiator, Fried Green Tomatos, Sexy Beast, The Samurai X movies ... Again, too many to name.

Television:

Law & Order (especially SVU), Project Runway, America's and Australia's Next Top Model, Mythbusters, Good Eats, Iron Chef. Oh ... and I am an anime addict. I have seen too many series to remember, but I am currently watching Bleach, Naruto, Kekieshi, Shonen Onmiyoji, and Death Note.

Books:

Memoirs of a Geisha, anything by Amy Tan, Ray Bradbury, China Mieville, Augusten Burroughs, Chuck Palahniuk. The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Things They Carried, The Thief of Always, Omnivores Dilema.
