About Me

I edited my profile at Freeweblayouts.net , check out these Myspace Layouts! Myspace Graphics
His parents were rock fans who always had classic rock and classic music blasting through the house. His older brother is also in the music industry as the lead singer of the alternative band the Fizziks and Realation.
It was only until the mid 90's tat he was exposed to Hip Hop music:
"I remember being in my early teems and being wrapped up in grunge rock and classic rock, i was so eclectic in my musical tastes, then i remember hearing Snoop Doggy Dogg and Nas and that shit just blew my mind. I never hear poetics and lyrical structure like that, it just drove me crazy"
Sinister excelled in school in English and writing so this peeked his interest and he expanded his hip hop collection.
"I started getting into Nas and Snoop, Dr. Dre of course, I always loved the Beastie Boys....Biggie was a big thing for me when i was first listening to it, i remember hearing Ready to Die and thinking it was absolutely amazing. Once i got my hands on Raekwon's "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx" it was a wrap. I fell in love with Hip Hop for life. This music opened my mind to a new form of expression"
In 1999, Sinister started writing his first rap works:
"Shit, back then all i could do is write straight poetry. The beauty about hip hop is, metaphors are crazy. I mean i can talk about a gun and use it in context of lyrical ability, like my words are bullets and still capture the spirit of hip hop. I was listening to old battles and beefs and was just in awe of the use of analogies and metaphors. It's all hip hop, it's all challenging one another, constant competition. Cause i smoke too much damn herb to make a sports team, and i hated school as it was, but i was still a pretty competitive dude, this brought out that nature in me."
Throughout the begining of the 2000's it was all improving:
"I never put out a demo, or recorded for a couple years, i just wrote and wrote and wrote. I would have jobs and spend entire breaks writing. I took a lot of bullshit jobs that let me rock out headphones all day. People would bring in little books of CDs and i'd walk in with a library. Just poppin them in and out all day long. Then on my breaks i'd lose myself in writing. I'd hear a hot Nas line, or some sick ass Biggie line and i'd be in the break rooms trying to write something that profound."
In 2003 Sinister started recording at Cotton Hill Studios:
"I started messing with recording and making my own beats and buyin beats. Once i got in the studio man i'd walk out and be like - i can do this shit so much harder- i'd go back and write and for the next 2 yrs it was in and out of the studio, becoming better at being smoother and delivering a great sound when i recorded. Working with better beats and all."
After 03' he started putting more of himself into hip hop. He started creating more of a buzz and impressing more an more people with his work:
"I would spit at parties and let people hear my recordings and people would be like - damn kid, you sound tight for a white boy, you should do a show and get your name out there, your tight lyrically- so then i started getting more on my grind."
"Thing is i love this hip hop shit. Here i am, this young dude from middle class America, i barely made it out of high school, dropped outta college, never went to prison, never shot nobody, never gang banged, not a gangster, yet i can make music that people from suburbia to the blocks can feel. They can use the words i say and apply it as a metaphor to something they are dealing with or going through. I never have to be anyone i'm not to mnake people feel my music. I've seen crazy shit, i've done crazy shit, but by no stretch am i this gangsta or this hard core killa. I'm just a hip hop head and the great thing about all this shit is if your real about this shit, you get that much more respect and people see your creativity. I'm proof that you don't have to portray something your not to be sick in this game."
In 2008 Sinister was voted as Metrolands Readers Choice 2008 Hip Hop Artist of the Year:
"Shit was crazy. I knew i was starting to get a buzz around here, but that's just crazy. Theres so many great artists around here that get slept on and i'm just honored to be showcased and know that people hear my shit. Thing is we got so many sick cats in the 518 that don't even get any light from outside of here it's a damn shame. I mean you got so many people in Troy doin thir thing, so many in Albany, Schenectady, Toga, it blows my mind. And we're doing it better than half the shit you hear on the radio. That's why i can;t even stand that radio shit, can't even stomach it. It's like all you need is a catchy dance routine and your on MTV and VHI and BET, when you got all these cats doin it lyrically. So hopefully we can get Hip Hop more live here, 518 is a movement that's been slept on."
So what can we see from Sinister in the future:
"Gonna finish the Sinatra this year. I've been grinding on that damn shit for a minute. I'm just a perfectionist and i'd hate to release something that wasn't my best output. After that i wanna work with more local hip hop artists, as many as possible. I wanna saturate a follow up with collabos. I hear so much quality shit around here that i wanna get on and lend something to. I'd love to do something with my brothers band, some hardcore bands, ya know just expand creatively.
I always wanted to do a few cds that focused on music from a time era. For example, have a cd with beats that sounded like a soundtrack to a night in an old 1920's speakeasy, or like a classic rock themed cd. Shit with Zepplin, Hendrix, Morrison, Joplin, Pink Floyd, Queen, Nirvana, shit like that in it. More focused on my influnces."
And his feelings about the buzz:
"I love the fact that i have people hearing my shit not only here, or America, but across the world. Bugs me out i did a collabo with Iron Dee from Italy, or that i have my tracks on mixtapes in Amsterdam, Germany, Canada, it's crazy. People seem to like what i'm doing, and for those who don't, those who hate, fuck em'. Not everyone is gonna feel me and that's cool. But i'm a driven ass mother fucker and i'm gonna get mine, nobody is stoppin that shit. 518 is gonna be on the map and i'm gonna bust my fuckin ass makin that happen. Hate ain't in my sights, nor will it be. We ain't stoppin anytime soon."
Expect the Sinatra out in late Summer 2008.

"I am a proud advocate and supporter of the ASPCA. I make a regular donation to the cause. I grew up in a dog-loving family! It's absolutely disgusting to see some of the abuse dogs endure. People like Michael Vick disgust me. I own a pitbull and she's one of the best, if not THE best dog i have ever owned. I plan on adopting much much more in the future and would appreciate ANY donation you could give the ASPCA! Let's put a stop to animal cruelty!"~siN
