About Me

i'm procrastifectionist; a liberal journalism major recently addicted to conservative talk radio.(could rush be right?) i'm religiously unconvinced and romantically non-commital; financially illiterate and politically aware. i don't believe in the 2nd amendment or 2 weeks' notice, but i think the double-scoop ice cream cone was a stroke of pure genius. the only book on my nightstand is the AP-style handbook ("the bible of the newspaper industry!") and iced hazelnut coffees and glamour are my only true vices. if i could pack my car and move to maine to spend the rest of my life writing in a cute little loft overlooking the atlantic ocean, i'd do it in a heartbeat. until then, i'm stuck in reno. in the library. by the reference books. end of story.

a revival of the human spirit

A main staple in the "thou mayest" diet is the ability to look objectively at a transcript which - according to all things logical - was meant to be sent to publishing with an alternati...

my soapbox:

I gravitate to the grey area, for things are rarely clear-cut and the world is not black and white. I wouldn't define this as fence-sitting, nor is it taking an indecisive approach to life itself. Wh...

the plateau of contentment

Happiness and contentment are not interchangeable; that's a fact I need to keep reminding myself so as not to fall into the cracks of a merely comfortable lifestyle.  I can sit perfectly fine upo...

where’d the paragraphs go?

It's like having an ice cream bar at my fingertips. Who wants to stick with vanilla when, setting aside all thoughts of guilt, we can have Rocky Road with rainbow sprinkles, coconut shavings, chocola...

switching up the reoccurring theme

I’ve had two or three works in progress, all of which I’ve recognized right off the bat would be lost causes.  There aren’t enough oil pastels or watercolors to brighten up what...

2 weeks’ notice?

Resume-building is of the utmost importance when venturing down the early roads of professionalism.  It’s all about gaining experience, despite the questionable desirability of the source t...

lighten your load.

There’s an undefinable sense of self-awareness available to those willing to venture down the road untravelled with nothing more than their sense of reasoning and raw talents...

a composition book and the open road

It's just after 9, and I've singlehandedly set in stone my own ill-fated pathway to no where.  After casually mentioning how it bewilders me that anyone in their right minds invests faith in a hi...

an introduction

I've heard of scanning the first and last paragraph of a book before actually committing to reading it.  Personally, I've never done it.  I like the uncertainty of not knowing what's yet to ...

shel silversteins lessons on life

Shel Silverstein's poetry was a major staple in my elementary literary diet; I devoured his words and feasted upon his grand ability to bring the imaginary to life.  From tales about bears in ref...
