About Me
Born in Denver, Colorado, January 26th 1989, 20 year old Jil Chrissie has taken pleasure in performing arts since the tender age of 6. She found security in the rhythms of music, dedicating herself to poetry, rap, gospel music, and comedy. As a young child she began her journey in entertainment as a background singer in her family choir (The Colorado Ambassadors), which was just beginning at the time in 1995 founded by her mother, Chrissie Thompson. Eventually this choir would become an entire organization with a church in 2005 called The Colorado Ambassadors of Gospel Ministries Inc, and Jil Christina’s father would be the pastor, and Mother the music director. This choir is one of the most sought after choirs in Colorado to sing in secular places, and Jil is very much apart of it. Performing before large crowds in malls, Bronco football games, Nuggets basketball games, and even clubs promoting jazz and rock, inspired her to early on develop a hunger for arts and performance, and still do. Now as an up and coming poet in Denver, Colorado, she has taken on the city.
As a freshman in high school, Jil Christina would be one of the main characters in a play called “A Raisin in the Sun,†in this play she took the part of Beneatha. Since then Jil Christina has been in multiple other productions from comedy, to drama and abstract. She was also apart of a poetry club promoting truth and inspiration, speaking of politics, and life. However, her most memorable moment was when she won 1st place in a talent show hosted by the internationally known Jack & Jill Co., a society /debutant organization. She was the only poet in that show.
As a junior in a different high school Jil Christina felt it necessary to get herself known. Now as a poet, performing in many school venues, high school or college, and winning contest as the only poet among, singers and dancers put her on the track of poetry. She created a spoken word poetry club in school called, I.C.E/Inspiring Creative Expressions. In the beginning as a very small club, Jil promoted to all cultures, colors, and styles. This process of hustling got her several members to join. The third semester of its construction, Jil put together a show called “Internal Inferno,†she emceed this show with perfection expressing her comedic act and poetic rap MC skills. Charging three dollars at the door, the club made a large bundle of cash and gained many fans. Jil owns the rights to her poetry club, and is happy to have had this club in high school for over 2 years.
Allowing her spoken words to inspire a whole community of her school. Jil Christina has managed to speak about politics, love, hate, rights, and even her own peer’s ways of living. "I make a lot of dumb mistakes, and so I don't preach I usually just talk about what’s going on, and basically what I think should be going on." "I mostly take my subjects from my own life, sometimes I’ll see things on television that might inspire me to speak out, but only if it relates to things I’ve gone through, the worse thing I could achieve is sounding ignorant." Jil Christina Thompson has achieved many things in her 18 years of life lived so far, but is determined that there are many more things to accomplish, and she will never stop.
