About Me

I've always loved singing-in the shower, in school choirs, humming down the street, harmonising round camp fires, belting out embarrasing songs at karaokes, but never really considering it as a path i should focus on + follow until i was about 21. It was then i started songwriting + experimenting with my voice + teaching myself gutair to accompany me. From there a new world opened up. I started going to an open mic night in the East Neuk of Fife at The Bluenote Arts Cafe + met a bunch of musicians (including folk from the Fence collective + Beggars Benison, Kufwit + Johnny Bluenote himself) whom i created + collaborated or simply hummed in the background with. It was soooo much fun + gave me a thirst for more.
Since i've moved to Edinburgh, highlights have been-Finding Out Of The Bedroom + the musicians i've met there, recording a song on their second album, forming a band called Lambent-playing several gigs + creating a cd (called Journey Of My Soul) collaborating with The Edinburgh Sound collective, making a cd (called Sum of our parts) + helping to organise music nights for us, playing at the rush festival, Ross bandstand, A set at Cambridge folk festival + much more to be had.
At the moment, Lambent has disbanded (as Rossco moved to Iona-boohoo) + i've been reluctant to play solo (as it isn't as fun) so I've been writin more songs + workin on an album with my dad with one of the songs featuring in a short film (more info soon). As the sun is coming out again im trying to get my arse in gear to make a new band-a little more upbeat + funky perhaps...Who knows..WATCH THIS SPACE!!! Myspace Backgrounds

Influences: Late nights, cups of chai, smell of geranium, random conversations, calvin and hobbes, the weather, time of the month.......... em..... guess you want names? Well I grew up on a heavy dose of Eddi Reader, from various kitchens, then developed a taste for more obscure voices that push the boundaries. Current favourites are Lamb, Ani DiFranco, Bjork, Feist, Martina Topley Bird, Beth Gibbons, Michelle shocked......
However I feel I find inspiration from those more closer to home, folk i've played with, friends I see that peform at parties whose songs are shaped by experiences I can relate to. See friends list
Sounds Like: Me, or parts of me anyway.
