Official Grind Entertainment Inc. which markets itself on its “O.G.†slogan is a rapidly growing independent music company headquartered in Woodbridge, VA. Official Grind’s operations encompass full scale music and video production as well as duplication and distribution. Founded in 2004 by partners B-Zo, Cheeto, DOE, Snake and Swift, Official Grind Entertainment has experienced tremendous evolution. Transformed into an independent music powerhouse, Official Grinds success thus far can be largely attributed to its ability to operate self sufficiently. UNVA occupies the position as the labels feature recording artists. The Noc’Koticz, an extremely talented and knowledgeable 3 man production squad, is responsible for music production and recording, and ABB Video Production is responsible for Official Grind’s video work. Official Grind has its own street promotions team as well, a group of approximately 40, who make sure Official Grind stays poppin in the streets.
UNVA which boastingly stands for Up North Virginia is comprised of four very talented MCs with their own unique sound and individuality. More than just a group, UNVA describes themselves as “brothers from another motherâ€. Affiliated for nearly two decades B-Zo, D.O.E., Snake, and Swift have been spitting potent lyrics together since childhood. Native to an area starving for hip hop representation. UNVA has filled the void. By painting a picture bar by bar, UNVA has the streets of D.C., Maryland, and Virginia(The DMV) behind them. With the powerful marketing scheme devised by Official Grind Ent, UNVA is destined for success.
Already stamped in the booth, UNVA’s goal for 2007 was to solidify themselves as live performers. Spurred by an opening performance for Jim Jones at Club Envy in Washington D.C., UNVA has gained a reputation for dazzling crowds, literally overnight. Recognized by radio personality Russ Parr, UNVA has since headlined in numerous venues, drawing crowds by the hundreds. Just recently, UNVA put on a stellar performance for the Source Magazine unsigned hype competition. The winning performance landed UNVA a trip to New York to showcase their talent as D.C. areas hottest unsigned artists. Other UNVA achievements include the recent release of their 100% original street album “Violence and Anna†and the completion of their independent album “Stamped†whose release date is still to be determined.
