Originally from Victoria, Australia, Purdi spent 27 years there growing up in a little town called Emerald, where there isn't anywhere to go out, the main attraction is a steam train and where most girls don't shave their legs ... (or their underarms - fortunately Purdi wasn't one of them). But, living in such a town does have its advantages. It helps to develop a style that is unique, quirky, organic and highly imaginative and creative.
Purdi's illustrations are mostly created using textural surfaces and combining paint and collage. She also isn't afraid to keep things simple by using beautifully simplistic linework.
