Dave Pilla

Pilla are a 2 piece acoustic band, based in Leeds and made up of Dave (from Hoylake on the Wirral) and Rich (from Northampton).They met in 2001 at Leeds College of Music where they both studied Music Production...briefly. They spent most of their time playing music and listening to the likes of Bill Withers, Richie Havens, Bob Dylan and Elvis - to name but a few.After a couple of years Pilla was born. It started with Dave and Rich playing the Leeds circuit as a duo, but soon grew to a 5 piece band sporting djembe's, bongo's and ambient electric guitars. Described by local reviewers as 'an original, acoustically driven sound, with a raw blues/folk edge', 5 piece Pilla got as far as the Unsigned Stage at Leeds Festival 2005. Despite this, all wasn't well in the Pilla camp. They were unhappy with their sound and split to follow various careers.Now, Pilla have returned to carry on where they left off and go back to doing what they love most - making honest, uncomplicated music which above all, aims to rely on the quality of their songwriting. In the 6 months they have been gigging again they have gathered a loyal following in the city of Leeds and are already being associated with the likes of Leeds big hitters Gary Stewart and Irish folk outfit ODi.
